About this file
This document is a Salient Characteristics template that provides detailed technical specifications for quantity 12 45-degree dichroic mirrors and quantity 12 45-degree turning mirrors for use in kilowatt-class lasers. The mirrors must be able to handle at least 2 kilowatts of average power and meet stringent requirements for coatings, surface quality, and dimensional tolerances. The template is referenced in a related federal contract opportunity (Solicitation W911QX-24-Q-0237) issued by the Department of the Army Materiel Command, Army Contracting Command Aberdeen Proving Ground. The solicitation is for the procurement of these specialized mirrors. The document outlines the Government's minimum technical requirements, including material, size, reflectivity, and other key performance parameters for the mirrors. Vendors responding to the solicitation must provide reflection and transmission data for the proposed mirrors.

Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) or Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR)
The Contractor shall provide The Advanced Laser Source Development Team at the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) with quantity 12 (Twelve) 45-degree Dichroic Mirrors for use in kilowatt (kW)-class laser and quantity 12 (Twelve) 45-degree Turning Mirrors for use in kW-class laser with the following specifications:
1. Twelve 45-degree Dichroic Mirrors for use in kW-class laser:
o The dichroic mirrors must handle at least 2 (two) kilowatts (kW) of average power for a 6 (six) millimeters (mm) diameter reflected Gaussian beam, corresponding to an irradiance of 7.1 kilowatts per square centimeter (kW/cm2).
o The mirrors shall have an anti-reflection coating on 1 (one) surface to minimize light loss, and a high-reflectivity coating on the other surface to reflect the laser at a specific wavelength.
o The mirrors shall adhere to the tolerances as specified below for dimensions and surface properties.
o The mirrors shall not require external cooling for operation.
o Reflection and transmission data for these devices must be included in the quotation.
The Following are the minimum requirements required by the Government:
o Material: Fused silica o Type: Plane mirror, separator o Diameter: 50.0 mm (tolerance: greater than -0.1 mm to less than or equal to 0) o Thickness: 9.5 mm (tolerance: greater than -0.1 mm to less than +0.1
mm) o Angular Deviation: Less than 5 (five) minutes of arc o Coating Type: Ion Beam Sputtering (IBS)
Surface 1 (S1) Specifications:
o Surface Quality: Scratch/Dig: 3/1 (0.2) o Flatness: Wavelength of Light (L)/10 regularity (within 1/10 of the wavelength of light) o Surface Roughness: 5/4 x 0.063; L3 x 0.004 o Anti-Reflection Coating:
Angle of Incidence: 45 degrees (°)
