About this file
This is a Salient Characteristics document outlining technical specifications for two oligonucleotide-related systems being procured by the Department of the Army Materiel Command. The procurement is structured as a small business set-aside.
The requirements specify one oligonucleotide cleavage and deprotection oven/chamber that must feature programmable temperature control up to 85°C, user-controlled heat and pressure settings, compatibility with various deprotection methods (ammonia-based and ammonia-free), and input/output gas controls. Additionally, one oligonucleotide purification system is required that can process eight different oligonucleotides per run cycle, dispense from five reagent bottles, utilize reusable commercial purification columns, and allow flexible programming of purification conditions. Both systems must include user training (onsite or virtual), complete documentation, and shipping/installation services.

The contractor shall provide the following requirements for the systems, as described below:
One (1) Oligonucleotide cleavage and deprotection oven/chamber shall include the following Salient characteristics:
· Programmable control of chamber temperature of up to 85 degrees Celsius.
· Must facilitate the timed control of reaction conditions.
· Must allow for user control of heat and pressure within the reaction chamber.
· Must be compatible with oligonucleotide cleavage and deprotection via standard methods under a variety of conditions including ammonia-based, ammonia-free, and liquid deprotection.
· Must include input and output gas controls for the reaction chamber.
· Onsite or Virtual user training including complete user manuals, available standard protocols, and routine maintenance procedures.
· Shipping and Installation included.
One (1) Oligonucleotide purification system shall include the following Salient characteristics:
· Must be able to purify at least eight (8) different oligonucleotides per run cycle.
· Must be able to dispense from at least five (5) attached reagent bottles.
· Must automatically dispense reagents to the purification columns or cartridges to facilitate the purification of oligonucleotides.
· Must utilize reusable commercially available oligonucleotide purification columns or cartridges to purify oligonucleotides to high purity and quality.
· Must allow for flexible programming of purification conditions.
· Must allow for desalting, purification and collection of synthetic oligonucleotides.
· Onsite or Virtual user training including complete user manuals, available standard protocols, and routine maintenance procedures.
· Shipping and Installation included.
