About this file
The document is a Salient Characteristics file for a federal solicitation (W911QX-25-Q-0086) issued by the Army Contracting Command at Aberdeen Proving Ground, seeking a Robotic Laser Wire Directed Energy Deposition (DED) Machine. The detailed requirements specify a robotic system with precise technical specifications, including a robotic arm with a 190 kg load capacity, 2000 mm reach, six-axis operation, and +/- 0.03 mm repeatability accuracy. The machine must interface with 3D printer slicer programs, have a safety operational enclosure, and include capabilities for printing materials like stainless steel, titanium, and nickel superalloys.
Additional system requirements include a 500 kg work bench positioner, swappable mechanical connections between deposition and milling tools, individual control units, cooling and shielding gas systems, and a perpetual digital slicer program license. The solicitation mandates shipping, installation, and training at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. Contractor personnel must also comply with Army access and security requirements, including background checks and identity verification procedures, with specific protocols for facility access and security screening.
