About this file
This document appears to be a set of salient characteristics for a police radio system upgrade at the VA Long Beach facility. The key details are:
The upgrade requirements include updating two dispatch consoles, reusing existing GTR8000 hardware and upgrading the software, upgrading the NICE logger recording system, adding an APX consolette with interface to the MCC dispatch consoles, and providing UPS backup power. The system architecture must utilize a common server architecture with a management server and DSC 8000 conventional site controller. Required core equipment includes a gateway router, LAN switches, and a core server. The proposal must include specific equipment lists for the core site, RF site, dispatch consoles, interoperability consolettes, and the NICE logger system. The VA Long Beach facility has an existing fiber network that will be reused. This document appears to be technical specifications supporting a federal contract opportunity with Solicitation Number 36C26224Q1851 for Radio Systems at the VA Long Beach facility.

SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:
POLICE RADIO SYSTEMS
Functions to be performed is the call processing and system management occur at the core site to the latest certified release.
· Must Upgrade Two Dispatch Consoles
· Reuse GTR8000 Hardware and upgrade the software to the latest release.
· Upgrade the NICE Logger recording system to the latest certified release which must Include MCC7500E AIS Upgrade
· Add additional APX Consolette and provide an interface to MCC Dispatch Consoles
· Must Reuse two APX Consolettes and provide an interface to MCC Dispatch Consoles and Add UPS Backup Power to Dispatch Building 5C and Building 1 (RF Site)
· Common Server Architecture: Common Server Architecture (CSA) employs server applications with the Linux/Windows operating system on the HP DL380 Virtual
· Must have Management Server (VMS) host. VMware supports the server applications in a Virtual Machine (VM) environment. These system configurations use local hard drive storage for servers.
· Must have Conventional Site Controller: The DSC 8000 Conventional Site Controller is used in ASTRO 25 systems as the main call controller in K-Cores. The DSC 8000 Conventional Site Controller platform replaces the GCP 8000 Conventional Site Controller and provides its full call processing functionality. It can support the full set of dispatch consoles, archiving interface servers, and conventional gateways when the Zone Controller is not available. The DSC 8000 controller contains a server and an embedded LAN switch providing more processing power and additional ports. The DSC 8000 controller uses an external power supply for AC operations. The DSC 8000 controller has enhanced security capabilities and a refreshed configuration interface to streamline.
· Must have The Core Gateway Router is used for devices that forward packets beyond their local LAN. The gateways perform the routing control of audio, data, and network management traffic in and out of the zone, replicating packets while achieving the fast access levels required by real-time voice systems. The core site audio, data, and control equipment interfaces to the dispatch sites, via the LAN switch through the Core Gateway.
· Must have the Core LAN Switch aggregates all the Ethernet interfaces for all services, clients, and gateways at the core site.
· Must have the Core Backhaul switch provides connectivity to remote RF and Dispatch sites.
VA Long Beach is looking to upgrade the existing K-Core to a current system release, with the option to tie in the system infrastructure with the Motorola Managed Zone Core (MZC). Utilizing the MZC in place of an on site system core allows the system to be kept at a current release. There are 5 rooms that will need to be upgrade. The existing Fiber network at VA Long Beach that connects all the buildings, that contain Radio equipment, will be reused. The proposal shall include Fiber converters to complete the fiber connection from the Police Server Room to BLDG 126.
