About this file
This document is a Requirement Description with Salient Characteristics for an Instrument Landing System (ILS) Glideslope procurement at Andersen Air Force Base. The critical equipment includes ILS cable assemblies, installation kits, and antenna arrays necessary for maintaining runway operations during inclement weather. The project involves rebuilding the MAWAR destroyed tower and re-establishing a glideslope site, requiring 7 total component orders.
The technical specifications include a frequency range of 328-336 MHz UHF, horizontally polarized amplitude-modulated radiation with a 16dB front-to-back ratio, and 120VAC 50/60-Hz power requirements. Horizontal and vertical coverage details are referenced in specific technical documents. The Regional Maintenance Center (RMC) and local work centers will procure these ILS parts on an as-needed basis from non-DOD contractors due to limited inventory in the Air Force supply system for complete equipment rebuilds.

REQUIREMENT DESCRIPTION WITH SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
In detail, please describe those physical, functional, performance, or material element qualities of an item that are essential to ensure that the intended use of the item can be satisfactorily realized.
ILS Glideslope
ILS (Instrument Landing System) cable assemblies, installation kits, and antenna arrays are critical items necessary for Andersen Air Force Base's continued operation of its two runways. This equipment will allow continued operations in inclement weather, providing Instrument Flight Rules arrivals and departures. All glideslope sites must have maintainer adjustable output levels to interface with existing ATC (Air Traffic Control) equipment. All standards established herein are required for two independent Glideslope sites. The end goal is to have the MAWAR destroyed tower, rebuilt to sustain continued and safe operations of Andersen's main primary runway. This glideslope site will need to be re-established, this requires 7 total component orders, with some that include itemized parts within.
Required Specs:
Frequency Range 328 MHz to 336 MHz UHF +/- 0.002% Type of Radiation - Horizontally polarized, amplitude-modulated radiation front to back ratio of 16dB Horizontal Coverage and Vertical Coverage covered in Figure 5-21 and Figure 5-22 of
31R4-2GRN31-2
Power Requirements 120VAC 50/60-Hz
The RMC (Regional Maintenance Center) and local RAWS work centers routinely maintain a standard set of ILS Glideslopes. These ILS Parts are ordered on a as-needed basis, from Non-DOD contractors due to their use for commercial applications, and lack of sufficient inventory in the Air Force supply system for complete rebuilds.
