About this file

The document is a Salient Characteristics file for 400 Hz Motor Generators (Project #311-340) detailing specific technical requirements for two portable motor-generator units to be delivered to Subase Bangor, Trident Refit Facility in Silverdale, Washington. The specifications include a Kato Motor-Generator with a 100 HP motor driving a 75 KVA generator, featuring input of 480V, 3-Phase, 60 Hz and output of 120-127V, 400 Hz, with DURALINE CAMLOCK connections for power input and output. Additional requirements include NEMA 3R weather-resistant enclosures, continuous duty rating, forklift and crane lift capabilities, and compliance with OSHA safety regulations (CFR Title 29, Part 1910).

The document mandates that the motor-generator sets must be identical to existing units, with a small footprint of 56"W x 84"L x 75"H, designed for continuous outdoor use in adverse weather conditions. Critically, the equipment must be inspected and certified by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL), with one hard copy of the certification report required. The units will be powered by a 200A, 480V cable and connected to 400A shore power cables, with specific cable configuration designed to minimize inductive reactance at the 400 Hz frequency.

400 HZ MOTOR GENERATORS

SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS

Project #311-340 Below are the “salient points” for the requested for each 400 Hertz Motor-Generator set:

1. This item must be identical to what is included in the quote, it is designed to be exactly like our other 400 Hertz Motor-Generator’s. These 400 Hertz Motor-Generator’s will have CAMLOCKs for the incoming and outgoing power.

• We currently have two operating portable 400hz Kato Motor-Generator units

• Kato Motor-Generator: 100 HP motor to drive a 75 KVA, 60 KW, 0.8 PF generator

• Rotary Frequency Converter System

• 2 Bearing - Single Shaft Motor Generator

• Input: 480V, 3-Phase, 60 Hz

• Output: Adjustable 120-127V, 400Hz {+/- 2Hz), 3-Phase, 400 Hz

• Incoming power is via single pole DURALINE CAM-LOK Input – Male, Cable Size - #6 - 4/0, E1016-1600 – Black, E1016-1605 – White, E1016-1602 – Red , E1016-1635 – Green (Female).

Camlocks are provided with tethered caps

• Output power is via single pole DURALINE CAM-LOK Output – Female, 30 Degree Fittings, E1022 - 1626 – Black, E1022 - 1636 – White, E1022 - 1630 – Red, No Ground. Camlocks are provided with tethered caps

• NEMA 3R, weather-resistant enclosures

• Continuous Duty

• Forklift Able

• Crane Lift Able with certified padeyes

• Small Foot Print: 56”W x 84”L x 75”H

• Freight included with the quote

• Final destination is: Subase Bangor, Trident Refit Facility, Silverdale, Washington, 98315-

• Designed for continuous use in adverse weather conditions, they sit outside almost all of the time on the pier / waterfront here at Subase Bangor.

• Each unit is powered by connecting input power via a 200A, 480V cable

• The output power is connected via the two sets of 200A CAMLOCK outputs to two 400Hz shore power cables, 3 conductor, 3/0 cables, 150 foot long, in paralleled and terminate at an encapsulated 400A 3 phase Joy plug which connects inside the forward shore power connection trunk to the shipboard bus.

• Two paralleled 3 conductor 3/0 cables are used instead of one THOF 500 to minimize the inductive reactance created by the high (400Hz) frequency of the power being carried.

• Consists of a 100HP, 480V, 60Hz, three phase brushless synchronous motor, driving through a common Shaft, to a 75KVA, adjustable 120-127V, 400Hz {+/- 2Hz), closely regulated, three phase, brushless, revolving field generator.

• Emergency Stop (E-Stop Button)

• Assembly is factory wired complete (turnkey ready).

• UL listed (see paragraph 2)

2. The equipment and its component parts shall be in compliance with applicable Code of Federal

Regulations (CFR) Title 29, Part 1910. By definition, any equipment will be deemed acceptable and approved by TRF, Bangor, if it meets specific Occupational Safety and Health Administration

400 HZ MOTOR GENERATORS

SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS

Project #311-340 (OSHA) conditions outlined in CFR Title 29, Part 1910; Subparts "O" and "S". Specifically, equipment will be "Accepted" by TRF, Bangor, if it has been inspected and found by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) to conform to specified plans or procedures of applicable codes. The equipment (as a whole system) shall be Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) inspected and certified (by an OSHA authorized third party). One (1) “hard” copy of the NRTL certification report shall be provided. If the equipment type/model has already been NRTL inspected and certified, a certification report (one (1) ”hard” copies) or documentation mounted on the equipment, (which acknowledges it is NRTL certified), shall be provided.
