About this file
The document is a Salient Characteristics document for a Robotic Arm 3-D Printer, specifying detailed technical requirements for a mobile concrete printing system. Key specifications include a non-gantry mobile platform capable of printing to a 20' height with a 12' horizontal radius, supporting cementitious materials and large aggregate up to 3/8" diameter. The system must output 1 ft³/min, be powered by a 60kW generator, operate without wireless capability, and be storable in a 20' shipping container. Additional requirements mandate weatherproof and corrosion-resistant components, compatibility with various 3D modeling file formats, and NDAA compliance.
Operational constraints include assembly/disassembly within one hour, operation by no more than three personnel with minimal technical training, and transportability by a 12K telehandler. The manufacturer must provide technical support for five years and ensure the system does not require proprietary printing materials. The printer's slicing software must develop print paths using .step and .stl file formats, with additional compatibility with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, and other 3D modeling software considered valuable. The system is designed for flexibility, ease of use, and minimal logistical complexity in field deployment.

Salient Characteristics for Robotic Arm 3-D Printer
• System will include mixing and pump systems for sending printable material to the printhead. Printable materials include cementitious materials, mortars, and concrete o Pump and mixing system must not require proprietary printing materials o System must support the printing of large aggregate up to 3/8” in diameter
• Non-Gantry mobile platform required.
o The system needs to be readily movable on a print site (e.g. track or rail system).
o System movement during printing does not require heavy equipment (e.g.
crane, telehandler)
• System must be able to print to a minimum height of 20’ (May be a combination of vertical reach and integrated adjustable vertical base)
• System must have a minimum horizontal printing radius of 12’ from a stationary printer base
• System will have a minimum material output of 1 ft3/min
• Rotatable nozzle
• System will include weatherproof and corrosion resistant coatings and connections
• The system must be able to be powered by a 60kW Advanced Medium Mobile Power
Sources (AMMPS generator)
• System will be operatable without wireless capability (Must be hardwired)
• System will be storable in a 20’ shipping container (including pump+mixer)
• All components will be transportable by a 12K telehandler for initial set-up
• Manufacturer must provide technical support for the system for a minimum of 5 years from purchase
• Assembly and disassembly of the system shall take no longer than 1 hour o Assembly time includes printer calibration
• Printer operation will require no more than 3 personnel o Operation will require minimal technical knowledge of software/programming, and will only require introductory training for operation
• Printer slicing software will be able to develop print paths using .step and .stl file formats. Additional compatibility with other native file from formats from AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, and other 3-D modeling software will add significant value.
• System will be NDAA Compliant
