About this file

This document includes a salient characteristics sheet and sources sought notice for a cryogenic liquid oxygen sampler. The Air Force is seeking a FCS 3001 sampler system with dual rated cylinder, additional sample cylinders, flexible hoses, ordnance couplings, interconnect adaptor, spare kit, manual, and carrying case. The sampler must sustain 1,800 psi pressure, hold 4.4 scf of gas, weigh 40 pounds empty, have a 2,200-2,700 psi burst disc, and measure 15x13.625x16.5 inches. Responses to the sources sought notice should include company information and ability to provide the sampler or an equivalent. Responses are due by March 14, 2024 and should be emailed to the specified contracting personnel.

REQUIREMENT DESCRIPTION WITH SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS

In detail, please describe those physical, functional, performance, or material element qualities of an item that are essential to ensure that the intended use of the item can be satisfactorily realized.

1. USAF Configured FCS 3001 Sampler System, Part Number 600544:

a. Complete FCS 3001 Sampler with Dual Rated Cylinder

b. One additional UN/ISO sample cylinder assembly (Cylinder & Valve Assembly)

c. Two 6-foot stainless steel, braided, flexible hose assemblies, each having a 1/2" stainless steel female AN nut hose ends.

d. Ordnance couplings to permit tank hookup.

e. One sample cylinder interconnect port adaptor

f. Spares kit

g. Full Mi-Spec Technical Operating manual.

h. Aluminum carrying case

2. The charging manifold consists of two cups, one inside the other. The inner cup is a highpressure vessel. During operations, cryogenic liquid being sampled is allowed to flow between the outer shielding cup and the inner sampling cup until the sampling cup is cooled to the same temperature as the cryogenic liquid. When this occurs, the inlet valve is then opened to fill the inner sampling cup after which the valve is closed to retain the cryogenic liquid in the cup

IAW TO 33D2-10-60-1, 1.3.1.

3. The operating pressure needs to sustain 1,800 pounds per square inch, gauge.

4. The gas volume of the sample cylinder needs to be 4.4 scf at 1,800 pounds per square inch, gauge.

5. The sampler weighs 40 pounds when empty.

6. The sampler needs to have a burst disc relief pressure of 2,200 to 2,700 pounds per square inch, gauge.

7. The sampler needs to have the dimensions of 15 inches long by 13.625 inches wide by 16.5 inches tall.
