Salient Characteristics
Commercial Availability Certification:
I have evaluated the commercial marketplace and determined that all of the salient characteristics documented below are available in products/services offered in the commercial marketplace.
TPOC: Joseph W Britton (joseph.w.britton5.civ@mail.mil)
Description: Two (2) low-noise fiber amplifiers for 1560 nanometers (nm) laser light
Near infrared fiber amplifiers are needed for 6.1 research on the application of atomic Ytterbium ions to quantum networking and sensing. The amplifiers will be used to prepare light for two (2) stages of sum frequency generation to generate 390 nm laser light.
Two (2) optical amplifiers are required that meet the following salient characteristics:
· Input laser light
· wavelength: 1560 nm +/- 2 nm
· coupling: single-mode (SM) polarization-maintaining (PM) fiber with Ferrule Connector (FC)/Angled Physical Contact (APC) connector
· input fiber jacket: 3 millimeter (mm) Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) or similar
· power: no more than 0 decibel-milliwatts (dBm) input power
· duty cycle: continuous operation
· output laser light
· coupling: SM PM fiber with FC/APC connector
· output power: at least 30 dBm (1 Watt)
· output power variation: less than 1 percent (%) root mean square (RMS) of output power level
· noise figure: less than 4.5 decibels (dB)
· output fiber length: 1 meter (m)
· output fiber jacket: 3mm PVC or similar
· electronics
· end user will supply direct current power
· serial interface port for monitoring and configuring laser
Reporting and Manuals: The Contractor shall provide documentation that the modulators satisify these Salient Characteristics at delivery (e.g. operation manuals and acceptance reports).
Delivery: Quoted cost to include shipping to the United States (U.S) Army Research Laboratory (ARL) in Adelphi, MD, USA.
