About this file
This is a Salient Characteristics document for a federal procurement issued by the 920th Rescue Wing (RQW) dated 9 July 2026. The document specifies minimum essential requirements for "equal" products under FAR 52.211-6 (Brand Name or Equal) procurement authority for HH60W aircraft protective covers.
The Government seeks procurement of three types of protective covers: cockpit covers (5 units), left-hand weapon system covers (5 units), and right-hand weapon system covers (5 units). The reference brand is Envelop protective covers with model numbers 122261 (Cockpit Cover), 124128 (LH Gun Cover), and 124129 (RH Gun Cover). The cockpit covers are fabric covers with nylon straps/buckles designed to protect windshields and windows from damage, corrosion, and dirt. The weapon system covers are similarly constructed fabric covers with nylon straps/buckles that protect the entire left and right weapon systems in multiple configurations, preventing corrosion and salt deposit accumulation. Essential characteristics require form-fitting design for the HH60W aircraft nose and specific airframe mounts, capability to fit multiple weapon system configurations (GAU-21 left/GAU-2 right, GAU-2 right/GAU-21 left, dual GAU-21s, dual GAU-2s, weapon mount only, and weapon mount plus cradle), fabric in subdued desert tan or USAF grey color, materials that will not damage aircraft windows, prominent "remove before flight" streamers, and minimal foreign object damage (FOD) risk. Delivery must occur within 180 days after receipt of order, and contractors must provide a minimum one-year standard commercial warranty covering parts and labor.
