About this file

Written by GovTribe AI ·

This document presents the salient characteristics of the Black Hornet 3 PRS G2 Simulator, a stand-alone flight training system developed by FLIR. The simulator consists of a USB controller, transport case, and FLIR UAS simulation software, designed to be used with a standard Windows laptop (not included). Its primary purpose is to provide a safe and controlled training environment for operators of Nano Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (NUAVs), with the goal of dramatically reducing the risk of losing equipment during initial and refresher training.

The specific deliverables include the Black Hornet 3 Simulator (excluding laptop), with a manufacturer part number S006000 (formerly P004003) and no assigned National Stock Number (NSN). This product is part of a Sources Sought Notice issued by the Department of the Army Materiel Command Mission and Installation Contracting Command Fort Hood, which aims to identify qualified sources for procuring three Black Hornet 3 PRS G2 Simulators with USB controllers. Potential vendors are encouraged to contact the contracting officer at jong.d.lee2.mil@army.mil for further information.

Salient Characteristics:

The Black Hornet 3 Simulator is a stand-alone system using a standard Windows laptop (not included), FLIR UAS simulation software, and a USB Controller.

The controller is similar to the one used in the operational system for the Black Hornets, however, it does not contain the datalink or the GPS.

The simulator is focused on flight training, and as such, provides a very effective tool, allowing users to self-train in a safe and controlled environment.

Effective use of simulator will dramatically reduce the risk of losing NUAVs in both the initial training and in refresher training.
