About this file

This document is a Sources Sought notice for an Oligonucleotide Synthesizer. The government is seeking information from industry, including small businesses, to locate potential sources that can meet the salient characteristics for the required instrument. Key details include:

The government requires one Oligonucleotide Synthesizer with specifications such as the ability to synthesize high-quality, long oligonucleotides, use standard phosphoramidite chemistry, contain 6-8 independently controlled columns, and have low reagent consumption and fast cycle times. The contractor shall also provide a 1-year warranty, 1-year onsite training, and delivery to Austin, TX.

Responses are due by 12 August 2024 and should address to what extent the specifications can be met, the business type (commercial, academic, etc.) and small business status, and past experience/performance. The contract performance location is the Army Research Laboratory in Austin, TX, with an estimated 2-week delivery timeframe after contract award.

Salient Characteristics

Commercial Availability Certification:

I have evaluated the commercial marketplace and determined that all of the salient characteristics documented below are available in products/services offered in the commercial marketplace.

Signature (typed name): _[REDACTED]_____________________

Technical Point of Contact (TPOC)

Contract Line Item Number (CLIN) 0001: The Government requires one (1) Oligonucleotide Synthesizer, that meets the following minimum requirements:

· Shall improve to control the automatic synthesis of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), Ribonucleic acid (RNA) or modified nucleic acids and degenerate oligonucleotide pools.

· Shall be a benchtop instrument with dimensions not to exceed 20-inches in width, 36-inches in length, and 42-inches in height.

· Shall be capable of synthesizing high-quality, high-purity, long oligos with coupling efficiency greater than 99 percent (%).

· Shall contain six (6) to eight (8) independently controlled columns using standard phosphoramidite chemistry and commercially available standard or universal Controlled Pore Glass (CPG) columns.

· Shall be capable of synthesis at a range of scales from nanomoles (nmol) to at least five (5) micromol.

· Shall use commonly available oligonucleotide synthesis reagents.

· Shall have reagent bottle positions to enable mixed nucleic acid backbone synthesis (phosphorothioate and phosphodiester).

· Shall contain at least ten (10) amidite ports and six (6) reagent ports.

· Shall have low reagent consumption (lower than 30 micoliters per coupling), low amidite reagent dead volume (lower than 300 microliters) and fast cycle times (slower than four (4) minutes per cycle).

· Shall allow for controlled synthesis with low-volume (lower than one (1) milliliter), specialty phosphoamidites.

· Shall contain a trityl monitor to access coupling efficiency and yield from each of the available synthesis column positions.

· Shall be self contained and include control software and a computer to control the instrument and to log synthesis runs as well as include common synthesis protocols preloaded in the software.

CLIN 0002: The Contractor shall provide a minimum of one (1) year full parts and services warranty on the instrument. The warranty shall include the first preventative maintenance check and full replacement of any defects within the first year.

CLIN 0003: The Contractor shall provide a minimum of one (1) year onsite user training on the instrument. The training shall be a in person training for minimum of one (1) day followed by virtural technical support.

CLIN 0004: The Contractor shall provide delivery to Autin, TX 78712.
