About this file
This is a Department of the Army permit modification letter issued by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District Regulatory Division to Escambia County Board of County Commissioners regarding permit SAJ-2012-02869. The modification extends the project completion deadline for an artificial reef deployment project located in the Gulf of Mexico approximately 7.02 nautical miles south of Santa Rosa Island's southern shoreline and 8.95 nautical miles south southeast of Pensacola Pass, off Escambia County, Florida. The original permit was issued on January 6, 2015, and the modification request was received on September 20, 2024. The new project completion deadline is extended to December 23, 2026. The modification authorizes the continuation of work to supply, clean, prepare, transport, and precisely deploy one or more vessels exceeding 85 feet in length over all (LOA) to the Escambia County Southeast Artificial Reef Site, a permitted artificial reef deployment area comprising approximately 9 square nautical miles.
The Corps of Engineers determined that the proposed modification's impact on navigation and the environment is insignificant, and the permit has been modified in accordance with the request. All other conditions of the original permit remain in full force and effect. The project site is subject to Army Corps of Engineers and Florida Department of Environmental Protection permitting authority. The point of contact for questions regarding the permit modification is Holly Millsap, project manager, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District, Pensacola Permits Section, reachable at 850-470-9823 or Holly.M.Millsap@usace.army.mil.
