DESCRIPTION
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office (NCO 12) Great Lakes
Acquisition Center anticipates entering a single source procurement with Cepheid for its
MRSA Reagents, Test Kits, and Consumables. This acquisition is conducted under FAR
13.106-1(b).
The Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service Product Line requires reagent test kits and service to perform Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) testing. The
Xpert MRSA NxG Assay is the only FDA 510(k)-cleared test approved for use on the
Government owned Cepheid GeneXpert Instrument Systems. Cepheid is the sole manufacturer of the reagents and only authorized distributor within the United States. The
Government owned GeneXpert Systems require OEM supplies as there are no substitutes for reagents that are compatible with the existing equipment and the VHA prohibits the use of gray market items in its facilities. To ensure continuity of care, VISN
12 also has the need for GeneXpert Instrumentation service and emergency repair.
Cepheid does not certify or endorse third parties to perform these functions. Due to the complexity of the equipment, the lack of third-party certification for services, and the need for replacement parts, Cepheid is the sole source capable of meeting the Government’s need.
Other entities may identify their interest and capability by responding to this requirement no later than 3/8/2021 at 12:00 p.m. CST. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all interested entities submitting a response to this notice must do so no later than the period specified for consideration. A determination by the
Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received because of the notice of intent will normally be considered for determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No solicitation document is available.
