Description

BACKGROUND: In spring of 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, VISN 5 required each medical center within the catchment to establish a Critical Incident Stress Management Team to provide peer support to staff during times of work and personal crisis. Since March of 2020, the Washington, DC, VAMC CISM Team has provided individual crisis support to over 1,900 employees. As physical first aid is to surgery, crisis intervention is to psychotherapy. Thus, crisis intervention is sometimes called ‘‘emotional/psychological first aid.” These teams were based on Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) as taught by ICISF. CISM is an acute emergency mental health intervention that requires specialized training. Leadership has deemed this team mission critical and to continue this work, teams within VISN 5 need appropriate training.

SCOPE OF WORK: Veterans Integrated Network Service (VISN) has a requirement for Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) training taught by International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, Inc. (ICISF) for CISM team members at each facility within the VISN.

CONTRACTOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following training is needed:

2-day remote course presentation of Assisting Individuals in Crisis including:

· Experienced faculty member provided by vendor

· Digital course materials for 50 participants provided by vendor

· Digital Certificates of Completion for up to 50 participants provided by vendor and, 2-day remote course presentation of Staff Support in the Healthcare Setting:

· Experienced faculty member provided by vendor

· Digital course materials for 50 participants provided by vendor

· Digital Certificates of Completion for up to 50 participants provided by vendor
