Nuclear cameras are used by doctors when providing nuclear medicine. Nuclear medicine imaging provides unique information that often cannot be obtained using other imaging procedures and offers the potential to identify disease in its earliest stages. Doctors use nuclear medicine to diagnose, evaluate, and treat various diseases. Nuclear medicine (and the use of nuclear cameras like the Spectrum Dynamics Medical, Inc. (D- SPECT) Nuclear Camera) comprise the many treatment options (and solutions) provided by the VA to veterans.

Spectrum Dynamics Medical (D-SPECT) Nuclear Camera is proprietary in nature with the manufacturer (Spectrum Dynamics Medical, Inc.) controlling all legal rights/access to this equipment which includes software, software updates, OEM parts/supplies, and factory trained certified technicians to perform maintenance, service & repair. A sole source letter was provided to the government which confirms that Spectrum Dynamics Medical, Inc. is the sole source provider for the D-SPECT, D-SPECT CARDIO, D-SPECT L, D-SPECT VISTA, VERITON SPECT & VERITON SPECT/CT systems. Spectrum Dynamics Medical, Inc is the manufacturer and sole authorized training provider for these systems and there are no other authorized or non-authorized service providers (in any socioeconomic category).
