About this file

This document is an amendment to a federal solicitation (Amendment 0001) issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs, NCO 15 Contracting Office located in Leavenworth, Kansas. The amendment extends the closing date for offers to December 15, 2025 at 5:00 PM CST and provides a questions and answers section regarding a pharmaceutical bottle handling system.

The Q&A section details specific requirements for a conveyor system that processes pharmaceutical bottles. Key specifications include processing 150 bottles per minute at a 6-inch spacing (correlating to 75 ft/min, with current conveyor speed at 55 ft/min), handling 120cc and 250cc amber bottles with a 43mm diameter cap. The bottles will contain tablets, capsules, and caplets. The caps are convertible child-resistant caps (CRC) with an outer ring to enable/disable the child-resistant feature. The products are non-flammable pharmaceuticals. Accompanying the document are detailed photographs showing the bottles, caps, and precise dimensional measurements using digital calipers.

Q. What is the speed of the existing conveyer system you have?

A. The SOW states that the system needs to be able to process 150 bottles/min at a 6in spacing which correlates to 75ft/min. Actual conveyor speed is 55 ft/min.

Q. What are the dimensions of the bottles? My guess is 10.3 cm and 17.2 cm for the 150 and 250 cc bottles respectively, assuming they are perfect cylinders with a 43 mm diameter.

A. See photos below

Q. What is the thickness and material of the cap?

A. 43mm diameter on both 120cc and 250cc

Q. Product or type of product being sealed inside the container (e.g., liquid, dry, cream, food, chemical, pharmaceutical etc.)

A. Pharmaceuticals (tablets, capsules, caplets)

Q. Are any of the products flammable?

A. No

Q. Cap diameter(s) (please list all, from smallest to largest)

A. We only use one cap: 43mm diameter on both 120cc and 250cc amber bottles, meaning two different heights need to be accommodated.

Q. Cap style(s) (e.g., standard flat, child-resistant, flip-top, yorker, etc.)

A.Cap is a convertible CRC with outer ring to enable/disable Child Resistant feature.

Q.Production line speed (if applicable) – Could you provide your speed in feet or meters per minute? You can use our line speed calculator to help determine this.

A. The SOW states that the system needs to be able to process 150 bottles/min at a 6in spacing which correlates to 75ft/min. Actual conveyor speed is 55 ft/min.
