About this file
This document is a Construction Statement of Work for a VA project to replace air cooled chillers and improve HVAC systems at the Chalmer Wylie Columbus VA Ambulatory Care Center. The mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) scope includes installing three new air cooled chillers with associated controls and pumps, replacing the existing ethylene glycol brine solution with propylene glycol, and providing new pumps and piping components. The project also involves increasing airflow in the sterile processing equipment room by adding an exhaust fan and adjusting the existing VAV box. General construction tasks include providing structural support frames for the new chillers, modifying existing support structures, and performing necessary ceiling, wall, floor, and roof modifications to accommodate the new equipment.

APPENDIX 10
Construction Statement of Work
Scope of Construction The scope of the project is to replace two roof installed air cooled chillers with three air cooled chillers; as well as to increase airflow in the sterile processing equipment room. Below is a summary of the improvements.
MEP
Provide three new air cooled chillers, controls, and pumps. Phase the work as shown on the drawings to enable the system to remain operational throughout the project duration, with short scheduled shutdowns to facilitate piping connections, control switchover, and system fluid replacement.
• Provide new piping system required to provide increased system capacity as shown on the drawings.
• Replace the existing system ethylene glycol brine solution with propylene glycol.
• Provide new pumps, air separator, and piping components.
• Provide power for the new system. Disconnect power from the existing system.
Increase airflow in the sterile processing equipment room. Add an exhaust fan and ductwork. Increase supply airflow through adjustment of the existing VAV box.
General Construction Provide structural support frame for the additional chiller. Modify the structural support frame to accommodate the footprint of the two replacement chillers. Remove and re-install ceilings, cut and patch walls, floors, roof, etc. as required to provide the work shown on the Documents.
