Ronald Reagan Building & International Trade Center Fact Sheet
Background The Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center (RRB/ITC) is a mixed use public federal building with government security measures, open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. We serve an annual total of nearly one million federal tenants, private tenants, tourists, and other visitors. The RRB/ITC is connected to the Federal Triangle Metro station and Commerce building by tunnels. The building exists to promote American trade and cultural exchanges, connect the public and private sectors, and contribute to the surrounding business area.
The International Trade Center manager (ITCM) is responsible for managing the public areas of the building and its private tenants (the federal agencies are administered separately). These responsibilities include the building’s private office tenants, event spaces, food court and other retail, and the parking garage (more on the business lines on p. 2).
Congressional Requirements and Goals Congress established the RRB/ITC, and the law requires that the ITC program remain financially self-sustaining. This means that the ITCM must generate enough revenue to pay for the value of their contract. Congress also tasked the RRB/ITC to accomplish the following planning goals:
