About this file

The provided document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for a gas fired air heater to meet the research needs of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The SOW outlines the scope, background, and requirements/salient characteristics for the air heater, which must deliver 1,960 - 19,600 SCFM air at 100 - 450 PSIG, heated from 100 F up to 250 - 900 F. The vendor must deliver the air heater, provide commissioning, training, O&M manuals, and a 1-year warranty.

The related federal contract opportunity is a Sources Sought (SS) notice, seeking interested small business concerns to identify their capability to satisfy the government's requirement for the gas fired air heater. Responses are due by June 11, 2024, and should include company information, small business designation, and a description of relevant capability and experience. This SS is not a pre-solicitation or Request for Quote (RFQ), and does not obligate the government to award a contract or pay for quote preparation costs.

Statement of Work

Gas Fired Air Heater

Document Date: 16 MAY 2024

Scope: To obtain a gas fired air heater to meet AFRL research needs of 1,960 – 19,600 SCFM air at a pressure range of 100 - 450 PSIG to be heated from 100 F up to a range of 250 – 900 F.

Temperature rating to be within minus zero and plus 4 percent tolerance. Vendor shall deliver a air heater to meet the requirement, provide commissioning and training (after installation into the flow system by the government), and provide O&M manuals along with a 1 year warranty after acceptance.

Background: Currently RQ uses high pressure, high temperature air delivery system to simulate altitude and velocity of propulsion systems designed for Air Force platforms. RQ is requiring a new system that meets new pressure and temperature requirements for research. The gas fired air heater will deliver the necessary air temperature to complete Air Force research mission.

Requirements/Salient Characteristics: Requirements and features are given in Attachment 1 -

Spec Sheet Section (23 80 20.10 10) - Gas Fired Air Heaters. Submittal procedures are given in

Attachment 2 - Submittal Procedures (01 33 00).
