About this file

This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for a Large Centrifugal Air Compressor required by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The SOW outlines the scope, background, and detailed requirements for the compressor, including a net compressed air output of 9,800 SCFM at an output pressure range of 250-500 psig. The vendor shall deliver the compressor, provide commissioning and training, and furnish O&M manuals with a 1-year warranty.

The related federal contract opportunity is a Sources Sought (SS) notice, not a pre-solicitation or Request for Quote (RFQ). The AFRL is seeking responses from interested small business concerns to identify their capability to satisfy the government's requirement. Responses should include company information, small business designation, and a description of relevant capability and experience. The closing date for submissions is 11 June 2024 at 4 PM Eastern Time.

Statement of Work

Large Centrifugal Air Compressor

Document Date: 16 MAY 2024

Scope: To obtain a centrifugal compressor to meet AFRL research needs of net compressed air output of 9,800 SCFM (ISA) (12.5 LBM/SEC) at an output pressure range immediately downstream of an aftercooler of 250 - 500 psig. Both flow rate and pressure rating to be within minus zero and plus 4 percent tolerance. Vendor shall deliver a compressor(s) to meet the requirement, provide commissioning and training (after installation into the flow system by the government), and provide O&M manuals along with a 1-year warranty after acceptance.

Background: Currently RQ uses high pressure, high temperature air delivery system to simulate altitude and velocity of propulsion systems designed for Air Force platforms. RQ is requiring a new system that meets new pressure and temperature requirements for research. The centrifugal air compressor will deliver the necessary air mass flow to complete Air Force research mission.

Requirements/Salient Characteristics: Requirements and features are given in Attachment 1 -

Spec Sheet Section (22 16 19.36 20) - Large Centrifugal Air Compressors (over 500 HP).

Submittal procedures are given in Attachment 2 - Submittal Procedures (01 33 00).
