About this file
This is a salient characteristics document detailing specifications for custom military drums. The requirement is for 4 rope-tensioned snare drums (CLIN 001) and 2 rope-tensioned bass drums (CLIN 002) for the Marine Forces Reserve Band. Both drum types must be made with Nordic true cherry wood shells with 45-degree bearing edges and clear coated finish. The drums require black polymer hoops, white Kevlar rope with black leather ears, and black leather military-style carrying slings. Each drum must feature custom hand-painted artwork including 25 specific battle streamers from Revolutionary War through Iraq, with durable paint expected to last 10 years.
The specifications include detailed dimensions (16"x16" for snare drums, 28"x14" for bass drums) and require soft-shell carrying cases for all drums. Under CLIN 003, all leather components must be stamped with the Marine Corps Eagle Globe and Anchor emblem - ¾-inch emblems for drum ears and 1½-inch emblems for carrying slings. This is a sources sought announcement specifically for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs), with responses to be sent to SSgt Ethan Braun at the provided email address.
