- SCOPE OF WORK –
ROOF REPAIRS PROJECT
AT
U.S.C.G. BASE DETACHMENT BORINQUEN, PR
FEBRUARY 2020
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 BACKGROUD: At Base Detachment, most of the two-story houses are having constant structural problems related to water exposure leakage. This leakage is causing damages to the interior of the housing units. The water leaks, originating at the roof to the interior of the unit living room, are becoming repetitive repairs and costly for the organization as a whole. The Coast Guard reimburses for personal property damages to the resident. Facilities Engineering has identified 3 units that are in most need of intervention. This cannot be done without keeping in mind the guidance from SHPO for historical preservation. With our intent to mitigate this problem, historical impact to the property will be minimal because the affected tiling needing removal is not original to the house. Therefore, we would not be damaging any historical features on the units.
Without these services, Base Detachment Borinquen is not able to provide adequate housing, in terms of quality and acceptable living standards to military members and their families; thus, affecting the overall mission and effectiveness of the entire organization. Expenses to the Government are increased due to releasing from Housing to live off Base and paying OHA. This water infiltration leak also could potentially cause that the celling interior LBP paint to peel off creating a health hazard to the residents.
1.2 SCOPE: Provide all labor, material, tools, equipment and supervision to repair the exterior living room roof of the following two story houses: 3 Cliff Rd, 12 Cliff Rd and 65 Hook Road in the Housing Area at the U.S. Coast Guard Base Detachment Borinquen, Aguadilla, P.R.

D. The sealant applied to the overhang and exposed vertical surfaces perpendicular to the overhang shall be of the same color as the existing building.
E. Provide and install approximate 1000 square feet of slip resistant tile and appropriate grouting material. Paint all walls with existing paint color after installing tile and grout. Contractor is responsible for field verifying and providing the appropriate square footage of tiling.
