This is a detailed specifications document for a Class 8 road tractor procurement by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) Central Office under their FY27 Road Tractors Invitation to Bid (IFB). The solicitation seeks bids from qualified organizations to provide new road tractors designed for towing multiple detachable gooseneck or lowboy trailers. The contract period runs for one year from the date of contract award. Bids will be received electronically through MissouriBUYS MOVERS or by mail through USPS, UPS, or FedEx, with hard copy bid submission requiring five business days' advance notice to the buyer of record, Ashten Nichols. Questions should be directed to Ashten Nichols at ashten.nichols@modot.mo.gov or (573-751-3685).

The specifications establish comprehensive requirements for a conventional day cab road tractor featuring a 15-liter inline six-cylinder diesel engine with automated manual transmission, air disc brakes with ABS, tandem rear axles with 40,000-pound GAWR, and air suspension with four-bag capability. The vehicle must include a 36-inch air lock sliding fifth wheel, pintle plate with pintle hitch (10-ton capacity), hydraulic wet kit with PTO, full aluminum headache rack with jail bar window, 120-gallon minimum fuel capacity, and all LED stop/tail/turn/marker lights. Additional requirements include convex spot mirrors, heated hood-mounted mirrors, cruise control, dual roof-mounted air horns, and a minimum 160-amp Delco alternator with three 1000-CCA batteries. The road tractor must be capable of moving an 80,000-pound combination vehicle up an infinite 6-percent slope from a stop and achieve a minimum speed of 35 MPH. All vehicles shall include a minimum five-year, 100,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty coverage.
