Roscommon Area Public Schools | RHS Stage Lighting Electrical Support RFP
Roscommon Area Public Schools Request for Proposal (RFP)
RHS Stage Lighting Electrical Support
Issue Date: September 3, 2026 Proposal Due Date: September 17, 2026 at 3:00 p.m.
1. Purpose Roscommon Area Public Schools (RAPS) is seeking proposals from qualified electrical contractors to provide electrical support for the Roscommon High School auditorium stage lighting upgrade. The work will support installation of the new theatrical lighting control equipment and shall include removal of existing equipment, installation of new electrical and control infrastructure, all required terminations, testing of the contractor-installed electrical work, and disposal.
The District previously solicited the auditorium lighting system upgrade, including replacement of the theatrical lighting control system and related equipment. This RFP is specifically for the electrical support necessary to complete that project. The District's stage lighting contractor will be responsible for system setup, programming, and theatrical lighting system commissioning.
2. Project Location Roscommon High School Auditorium 10600 Oakwood Drive Roscommon, MI 48653
3. Scope of Work The selected contractor shall provide all labor, tools, materials, equipment, supervision, and incidental work necessary to complete the electrical support. The scope shall include:
Remove the existing dimming panel and install the new dimming/Sensor Rack panel in the designated electrical closet.
Pull individual neutral conductors from the stage electrical panel to the electrical closet panel location where the new panel will be installed.
Install new conduit as required to accommodate the new neutral conductor pathway.
Remove the existing lighting control panel device and replace it with a new touchscreen station.
Remove existing button control devices and replace them with new button stations.
Install all equipment identified on the Sensor Rack Bill of Materials (BOM).
Pull new Cat5e cable from the controller to each touchscreen station.
Complete all electrical, control, and low-voltage terminations required for the installed equipment.
Remove existing equipment included within the project scope and legally dispose of removed materials and project debris.
Test contractor-installed wiring, devices, and terminations for proper electrical continuity and installation, and coordinate turnover with the stage lighting contractor and RAPS. System setup, programming, and theatrical lighting control commissioning will be performed by the stage lighting contractor and are not part of this electrical contractor scope.
4. Equipment / Sensor Rack BOM The contractor shall install all applicable equipment identified on the Roscommon High School ETC Sensor IQ Bill of Materials dated May 28, 2026, attached/referenced as Exhibit A. The BOM includes the Sensor IQ mains-feed wall-mount panel assemblies, doors, main breaker kits, and intelligent breakers. The bidder shall review the BOM and identify any equipment, materials, back boxes, cabling, or components it assumes will be owner-furnished, furnished by the stage lighting contractor, or otherwise excluded from its price.
The stage lighting contractor will furnish/coordinate theatrical system setup and programming. The electrical contractor shall provide the installation infrastructure, conductors, conduit, Cat5e cabling, terminations, and related electrical work described in this RFP unless specifically noted otherwise.
5. Contractor Responsibilities All work shall be performed in a professional manner and in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local codes and requirements. The contractor shall coordinate work with RAPS and the stage lighting contractor so that the new dimming/control equipment, touchscreen stations, button stations, Cat5e cabling, conduit, conductors, and terminations are installed and ready for system setup and programming by the stage lighting contractor.
The contractor is responsible for field-verifying existing conditions, dimensions, pathways, electrical capacity, and quantities necessary to provide a complete installation. Any assumptions, exclusions, allowances, or work proposed as an additional cost shall be clearly identified in the proposal.
6. Proposal Requirements Proposals shall include:
Lump-sum price for the complete scope, including labor, materials, conduit, conductors, Cat5e cabling, terminations, removal, disposal, travel, supervision, and all incidental costs.
Itemization of any allowances, alternates, exclusions, owner-furnished equipment, or assumptions affecting the lump-sum price.
Estimated project schedule, anticipated duration, and any known lead-time or coordination constraints.
Contractor/company profile and qualifications, including applicable electrical licensing.
At least three references for comparable electrical, theatrical lighting, auditorium, or school projects.
Proof of insurance.
Identification of the project manager/lead electrician who will be assigned to the work.
Confirmation that the contractor has reviewed the scope and will field-verify existing conditions before beginning work.
7. Evaluation Criteria Proposals may be evaluated based on contractor qualifications and relevant experience; understanding of the scope; completeness of the proposed work; ability to coordinate with the stage lighting contractor and District; proposed schedule; references; total cost; and overall value to Roscommon Area Public Schools.
