Art Therapist - RFQP01061500001 Questions and Answers 01/22/2015
1) As part of the analysis, will the art therapist be working in conjunction with MDs and PhDs on the clinical staff for the prison? ( I am aware that there is a team approach to treatment planning (as sited on page 3/8 of the PWF)
The art therapist will work with treating physicians, mid-level practitioners, nurses staff, psychologists and Rehab Service therapists. The therapist will be more involved in the hands on programming than in attending patient care conferences. The Rehab Services staff will serve as representatives for all therapy and will convey information between the treatment team and the contracting art therapist.
2) Will the general prison population and mental health identified population be treated equally or is the art therapist to work exclusively with one?
The priority for care will be divided among the inmates housed on Nursing Care Center units, mental health units and a sex offender unit. The art therapist will not be working with any general population inmates.
3) For what populations are evaluations mandatory (if any) and for what populations is the treatment in art therapy mandatory (if any)?
The art therapist will receive consults for patient that have been identified as good candidates to participate in art therapy. These consults will come from the attending physicians as well as the therapists from the Rehab Services Department. Initial evaluations will be required to be done by either the staff music therapist, the staff recreational therapist or the contract art therapist as part of the team treatment approach. Individual evaluations done by each therapist will not be required. However, monthly follow up notes will be required for each inmate actively participating in art therapy.
4) Do you know the size of the population to be treated? The total number of individuals
There are approximately 80 inmates housed in the various Nursing Care Center Units, approximately 120 committed mental health patients, and 50 inmates on the sex offender unit. Not all of these patients will be identified as being appropriate for art therapy.
5) For the above requirement, please confirm that the Art Therapist must be both Registered AND Board Certified (as opposed to Registered only).
Art therapist may be registered or board certified.
