FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION

STATEMENT OF WORK

1 Introduction

1.1 Background

The Technical Hazards Response Unit (THRU) is regularly assigned responsibility for providing medical support and care to FBI Headquarters (HQ) and Field Office (FO) units in various classified and unclassified mission sets. THRU Advanced Capability (ADCAP) Paramedics are expected to provide a wide range of medical care from simple first aid to life-saving medical interventions as well as advanced medical support beyond what is normally expected from a traditional ambulance or hospital based paramedic. The THRU Advanced Capability Paramedics care for sick or injured FBI personnel in many environments, from permissive to austere to providing “over the barrier” medical care.in areas where transport to a higher level of care may be only minutes away or may actually be several hours or days away, and where access to telephonic contact with medical control officers is not possible.

In addition to the medical care outlined above, THRU ADCAP Paramedics are regularly called upon to provide sick-call level medicine for both acute and chronic medical conditions during extended FBI operations in the CONUS and OCONUS arenas.

To that end, THRU ADCAP Paramedics need to be proficient in advanced and independent paramedic care of FBI and Other Government Agency (OGA) personnel who become sick or injured.
