Interested Vendor Question with Government Response
Q1:
Could you please elaborate on the phrase in the Notice “Due to research protocol and to maintain continuity of test results, substitutes will have to be reviewed for possible consideration.”
Wasn’t sure if the criteria would simply be the same percentage of active ingredient as the Brand Name listed or not. Please advise.
Answer:
The most important factor is that the active ingredient is the same. For non‐research maintenance sprays, the active ingredient should be exact and the % active ingredient VERY similar. Also, the formulation should be exactly the same. For example – carbaryl is marketed as liquid and dust and we do not want a dust. Also, some brands may or may not put adjuvants in their formulation. Even if all of that is taken care of, the substitute product MUST be labeled for the crop we will use it on (Pecan or Stonefruit).
