About this file
This document is a Statement of Need for a Request for Quote (RFQ) to procure two walk-in 8'x8' Enviroline 4.0 environmental chambers. The chambers must be capable of maintaining accurate temperatures between 2-25 degrees Celsius and will be used to conduct temperature-controlled experiments on aquatic organisms at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Lake Michigan Field Station in Muskegon, Michigan.
The solicitation number is 1333MJ24Q0022, and the chambers are required for the newly renovated lab space at the government-owned facility. Pricing is to include all materials, freight, and installation at the Lake Michigan Field Station. The chambers are needed to conduct simultaneous experiments at two different temperatures, as temperature is a critical variable that influences organism behavior, physiology, and growth.

STATEMENT OF NEED
1. PURPOSE:
To procure two walk-in 8'x8' Enviroline 4.0 environmental chambers capable of maintaining accurate temperatures between 2-25 degrees C for the newly renovated building three.
2. SCOPE OR MISSION:
We are a multidisciplinary environmental research laboratory that provides scientific understanding to inform the use and management of Great Lakes and coastal marine environments. The Lake Michigan Field Station (LMFS) in Muskegon, MI is a government owned facility in support of all missions of the Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (GLERL) in Ann Arbor, MI.
3. BACKGROUND:
The chambers will be used to conduct ecological experiments on live aquatic organisms. It is important to have two chambers in order to be able to conduct the same study at two temperatures simultaneously because temperature is a critical variable that influences organism behavior, physiology, and growth. The chambers will be installed within newly renovated lab space in the NOAA GLERL Lake Michigan Field Station.
4. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:
See specifications document.
5. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Pricing to include all materials/freight to LMFS and installation.
