We are recognized locally, regionally, and nationally as a leader in quality patient care, positive customer service, medical/allied health education, health-related research and employment opportunities. Our key business drivers are quality, financial integrity, patient satisfaction and employee satisfaction.
The Anesthesia Service, at the South Texas Healthcare System provides clinical and surgical diagnosis.
Objectives/Requirements
STX campus for standardization-to include Anesthesia, Emergency Department, Pulmonary Section, MICU, SICU, objective is to purchase 18 brand new never used glidescope video laryngoscopes.
The Glidescope video laryngoscope has become a standard of care for endotracheal intubation both in an OR setting and outside the OR. In controlled studies this device has been shown to decrease the incident of incorrect endotracheal tube placement and esophageal intubation as compared to standard direct laryngoscopy intubations, decreasing morbidity and mortality. Additionally, peer reviewed studies have also demonstrated that the Glidescope video laryngoscopy system decreases the number of intubations needed for trainees to become minimally proficient in endotracheal intubation (from 75-100 to 10-20). This is an extremely important fact since we train respiratory therapists, residents and medical students in our OR’s for airway management.
