This pump system shall be designed to pump jet fuel (Jet A, JP5 or JP8) in a harsh environment (e.g., high humidity, high temperature, salty air conditions).DOES NOT MEET
The pumping system shall be able to work seamlessly in parallel with a second pump (lead/lag) of similar design.EXCEEDS
The discharge system will be connected using 6-inch Victaulic OGS connections no more than 48 inches vertically from the ground to facilitate ease of hookup.
The Intake pumping system shall have an 8-inch Victaulic OGS connection no more than 48 inches vertically from the ground to facilitate ease of hookup.
Cooling system for pump and diesel engine shall be designed for extreme heat and humidity.
Require Victaulic 6-inch and 8-inch OGS connections with aluminum tees (or Ys), 90 degree elbows, and 45 degree elbows all with Victaulic grooves both ends, minimum of 3 each with appropriately rated couplings (quick disconnect couplings where possible). Include storage location on trailer for fittings.
All spare parts with gaskets must be environmentally packaged for transport and long-term storage for extreme environments (e.g., high humidity, high temperatures, salty air conditions) using desiccant within sealed polyfoil film packaging (MIL-PRF-131) within sealed corrugated plastic boxes. Individual packaging must be labelled with a picture and description of the contents (e.g., manufacturer, part number, date packaged, related parts). All metal components shall be wrapped to protect polyfoil packaging.
Spare Victaulic connections (tees, 45 degree elbows, 90 degree elbows) shall have plastic end caps to protect OGS grooves.
Discharge and suction valves shall have end caps to prevent damage and protect internals.
Inlet and discharge pump connections are located on the rear of the trailer for ease of access and connecting to the pipe system.
Tan epoxy paint. Utilize UNIFIED FACILITIES GUIDE SPECIFICATION section 09 97 13.27. Special Consideration to the surface preparation and curved edges for coating process on pump system. Include zinc-rich epoxy primer coat, epoxy intermediate coat, and polyurethane topcoat.
Instrumentation shall be at a minimum: hour meter, oil pressure, pressure gages on inlet and outlet manifolds, fuel tank level indicator, tachometer for pump and for the engine if not directly coupled, flow rate, and all engine standard gages.
The system must withstand continuous operation with a minimum of 10-hours of continuous use, with a 2-hour break in operations, followed by another 10-hour shift with another 2-hour break in operations for maintenance, within a 24-hour period.
Emergency stops in key locations on the trailer as well as remotely by wire.
Corrosion resistant to prevent corrosion. This may require stainless steel components (piping, tubing, hardware, etc.) or other methods.
Spare Parts shall be included that are required for regular maintenance in the first maintenance cycle.
Special tools shall be included as spare parts to work on the pump system. These tools/parts shall include any tools that cannot be purchased from a local hardware store.
Operation & Maintenance manuals (operation, maintenance, expected service life, storage, and parts). Include maintenance schedule for all systems and subsystems. Manual must be written to a level that allows for a person with basic mechanical knowledge to follow in an emergency situation.
Fuel tank onboard (8 hour) (diesel, Jet A, JP5, or JP8), capable of refueling tank from pumping fuel stream while in operation and also from tanker truck.
Duplex suction basket strainer with delta pressure gauges on inlet manifold.
Check valves to prevent backflow.
All valve handles, switches, and gages shall be numbered and labeled to correspond with the instructions in the user’s manual and start up guide.
Ball valve drains on all low point locations to facilitate draining fuel from the system. Drains shall be piped to a common header and capped to remedy accidental discharge.
ENGINE
Engine fuel system will scavenge and utilize the fuel (JP8, Jet A, Kerosene, Diesel, or JP5) from the flow stream to fill the day tank and run the engine. The engine shall have enough power to negate deration in performance using any of the fuels listed.
Tier 3 emissions compliant.
TRAILER
Unit is mobile; mounted on a 2-axle off-road trailer.
Center of gravity of the pump system is balanced over the trailer axles.
Suspension designed for long-term storage and off-road capability such as leaf springs (no air-inflatable bags).
Tongue jack.
Stabilizers on four corners to ensure a stable platform during operation.
Towable by a ¾-ton-rated pickup.
Bumpers to protect equipment during docking.
Impulse or surge brake on trailer.
Highway towable with trailer lights, spare tire, fire extinguisher.
Include lights that illuminate the operating areas on the pump system that can be adjusted and switched on and off by the operator.
Adjustable height Pintle hitch.
Trailer has fork pockets and crane liftable “D-rings”.
Trailer has grounding connection points, a mounted grounding rod with slide hammer, and grounding wire reel with clamps.
Fenders, if the tires are outside of the trailer bed or exposed from the top.
Trailer and components shall be capable of long-term storage in shipping container with ease of removal for emergency conditions.
SHIPPING CONTAINER
System shall fit securely into and include a Type II, ISO 20-foot shipping container.
Weight of trailer shall not rest on the tires during storage and shipping. Supports shall be designed for ease of removal.
Shipping container has inside guides to assist in safely backing the unit into the shipping container.
Shipping container has ramps to facilitate movement in and out.
Onboard storage of connection fittings in 90s, 45s, Ys, etcetera to facilitate connection to the piping system.
FACTORY ACCEPTANCE TESTING (FAT)
