PART 3 – Description/Specifications
3.1 STATEMENT OF WORK:
The Government requires incubators/shakers and other support equipment upstream processing.
For incubators/shakers, our current incubators are limited in capacity and thus require larger or additional cell culture incubators/shakers for seed train and scale up in upstream processing. We cannot culture large volumes (e.g., 5L Erlenmeyer flasks) of cell culture in current incubator system because of our current incubators are limited in shaking capability and interior height resulting in multiple small size shake flask that takes a considerable amount of time and labor.
3 | P a g e
Additionally, our objective for requesting these incubators in stack is to allow simultaneous large volume cell culture possible with different clones and/or culture conditions (e.g., temperature, rotation speed, DO set point). For support equipment, we require battery and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for electrical power backup for instruments in upstream processing and a humidity test chamber.
System Description:
The large volume cell culture incubators should have the following specifications:
• Should have interior that is tall enough for 5 L Erlenmeyer flasks.
• Should be able to set up as either a free-standing unit or benchtop unit, or in a three-tier stacking configuration.
• Should be 1070 mm x 880 mm x 695 mm (one unit) / 1070 mm x 880 mm x
1850 mm (three units) in dimension.
• Should have touch controller with a separate display field for an ideal overview.
• Should have maximum working height of 1.40 m.
• Should be able to operate 60 L or 23,000 parallel batches.
• Should be able to control temperature, humidity, CO2 level, and stir speed.
• Should have the ability to operate with an agitation speed 20 – 400 rpm.
• Should have the ability to operate with a culture temperature 10 – 65 °C.
• Should have the ability to operate with a humidity up to 85%.
• Must have electrical components compatible with US standards 110V/60Hz.
The shakers should have the following specifications:
• Should have capacity of 170 L.
• Should be 87.5 × 73 × 170 cm / 34.4 × 28.7 × 67 inch in dimension.
• Should have touch screen display.
• Should be able to control temperature, CO2 level, and stir speed.
• Should have the ability to operate with an agitation speed 25 – 400 rpm.
• Should have the ability to operate with a culture temperature 4 – 50 °C.
• Should have the ability to operate with a CO2 range 0.1 – 20%.
• Must have electrical components compatible with US standards 110V/60Hz.
The battery should have following specifications:
• Should have VAC capacity of with VAC range input 240 V and output 120V.
• Should have load power of 4000 VA.
• Should be 28.70 X 11.80 X 32.65 inch in dimension.
• Should be 412 lb in weight.
4 | P a g e
The UPS should have following specifications:
• Should have output power capacity of 1000 VA and output power of 800 W.
• Should have AC outlet types of NEMA 5â15R, C13 coupler, IEC Jumpers, and power plug of C14 coupler.
• Should be 432 X 490 X 89 mm in dimension.
The humidifier should have following specifications:
• Should have temperature range: 0 °C to 70 °C.
• Should have temperature range with light: 10 °C to 60 °C.
• Should have humidity range: 10 % to 80 % RH.
• Should have positionable illumination cassettes with ICH-compliant UV/Vis light source.
• Should have humidity regulation with capacitive humidity sensor and vapor humidification.
• Should have inner chamber made of stainless steel.
• Should have intuitive touchscreen controller with time-segment and real-time programming.
• Should have tight-sealing inner door made of safety glass (ESG).
• Should have stainless steel racks.
• Should have computer interface: Ethernet.
• Should have door heating.
• Should be 25.61 x 30.93 x 19.11 mm in dimension.
