PIRANHA Dual Agent Restaurant Fire Suppression System

Pre-engineered kitchen fire suppression system (description) The PIRANHA Dual Agent Restaurant Fire Suppression System employs the best firefighting attributes of two extinguishing agents: the fast flame knockdown and securing power of wet chemical and the fast cool-down capability of water. The system provides protection for settings such as casual and fine dining, fast food chains, culinary schools, sports complexes and stadiums, and four- and five-star lodging facilities. The only agent-plus-water fire suppression hybrid on the market today, the PIRANHA System outperforms all conventional single-agent systems. The system attacks fire using the rapid flame knockdown and the securing capabilities of PRX Liquid Fire Suppressant. After that, water follows, quickly cooling the cooking media and further helping to prevent reflash. Tests have shown dramatically increased firefighting performance:

Twice the coverage of conventional single-agent systems 15 times faster than conventional single-agent systems in cooling down cooking oils 60 percent less chemical agent required and covers hazard areas better Flexible overlapping nozzle coverage for most appliance arrangements Smaller and fewer agent storage tanks required per system

System Features

• UL and ULC Listed – Meets requirements of UL 300

• Two nozzle styles cover all hazards

• Rapid flame knockdown

• Reliable cartridge operation

• CE marked

• Provides a cooling effect that further enhances ability to prevent reflash

• Overlapping appliance protection

• Dual agent

• Proprietary agent with increased performance

Application PRX Liquid Fire Suppressant is designed for use only in PIRANHA restaurant fire suppression systems. This ‘‘liquid’’ agent will suppress cooking grease/oil related fires as found in restaurant appliances and ventilating equipment. It should not be used for fires directly involving energized electrical hazards.

Description PRX Liquid Fire Suppressant is a specially-formulated, aqueous solution of inorganic salts. The agent is pre-mixed, eliminating the need for dilution before system charging. When used as an extinguishing agent, it will produce no toxic by-products.

Note: Care should be taken when handling the agent. If contact is made with the eyes or skin, flush with water. If the agent is swallowed, dilute with water or milk and contact a physician.

Note: The converted metric values in this document are provided for dimensional reference only and do not reflect an actual measurement.

ANSUL, PRX, and the product names listed in this material are marks and/or registered marks.

Unauthorized use is strictly prohibited.

Performance When used in the PIRANHA restaurant system, PRX Liquid Fire Suppressant is extremely effective on cooking grease/oil fires in restaurant ventilating equipment – hoods and ductwork, as well as in a variety of cooking appliances – deep-fat fryers, griddles, range tops, and all types of broilers and char-broilers.

As the agent is sprayed in fine droplets (atomized) onto an appliance grease fire, it provides excellent flame knock-down, surface-cooling, and fire-securing capabilities.

When the agent is applied, it initially forms a layer of foam on the surface of the grease, which prevents oxygen from reaching the fuel while allowing steam to escape which promotes cooling.

When the subsequent water spray is applied by the PIRANHA system, this foam layer is continually renewed by interaction with the water. Extremely rapid cooling results.

Post-fire cleanup can be readily accomplished by flushing the area with water or steam.

Because of the composition of PRX Liquid Fire Suppressant, it is compatible with metals commonly found in restaurant kitchen environments (i.e., stainless steel, aluminum, galvanized metal, mild steel, copper and brass).

Approvals and Listings PRX Liquid Fire Suppressant has been tested, and is listed with Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and Underwriters Laboratories of Canada (ULC) as part of the PIRANHA Restaurant Fire Suppression System.

ATTACHMENT A:

This project includes replacement of the fire suppression system in the cafeteria kitchen.

1. Ansul R-102 fire suppression systems are installed in the kitchen at both sites. An Ansul R-102 system with a 3-gallon tank and S/N S072109 is installed at the barbecue making site and is sufficient for this area.

As shown in Picture 1, the Ansul R-102 suppression system at the barbecue making site provides coverage for all equipment.

2. At the back side, where the gas stove is located, an Ansul R-102 system with a 1.5-gallon tank, S/N 072104, was initially installed. This system was adequate for the original cooking equipment. However, recent renovations included replacing the gas stove with a larger model. As a result, the existing Ansul R-102 system no longer provides sufficient coverage for all equipment.

Pic.2. This is back site where the gas stove is installed and here you can see only one nozzle of

ANSUL.

R-102 Which doesn’t cover all equipment’s. Also, we need to change the existing tank 1,5 gallon to 3 gallon.

1.Below photo of both tanks. Left tank is 3-gallon right is 1,5-gallon tank.

Currently the cafeteria kitchen has a 3.0 Gallon Ansul R102 system with 1 3.0 Gallon Cylinder that has a 2011 production year.

The 3.0 Gallon Ansul-ex chemical fluid (2011 PRODUCTION YEAR)

•1 LT-30 Nitrogen Cartridge (2011 PRODUCTION YEAR) has expired its shelf life.

Cylinder and Ansul-ex chemical fluid that has expired its 10-year shelf life should be replaced.

Upon recent fire technician’s visit, it has been agreed that all the installed nozzle types are incorrect for the nozzle is used without a cap and O-ring, a blockage has occurred in the discharge and detection line. For this reason, the nozzle should be replaced. Fusible link (meltable metal detectors) used in the detection line have not been replaced during maintenance periods. It needs to be replaced.

• The discharge and landing line piping installation for the equipment is incorrect. The nozzle equipment is not positioned at the correct height and angle.

• Manual Pull Station should be revised to be maximum 12O cm above the ground and to be located closest to the escape door. Currently the guide labels are missing and need to be attached.

This project will have the whole system completely re-installed.

• No fire shut-off valve for gas is installed. A fire shut-off valve must be installed.

• A shunt trip breaker is not installed to disconnect power to all electrical outlets under the hood in the event of a fire. A shunt trip breaker must be installed. (A shunt trip breaker for a fire alarm system is a special circuit breaker with an internal electromagnetic coil that cuts off main power remotely when triggered by the fire alarm panel).

The 1.5 Gallon Ansul R102 system has one 1.5 Gallon Cylinder with 2011 PRODUCTION YEAR), one 1.5 Gallon Ansul-ex chemical fluid (2011 PRODUCTION YEAR)

• One LT-20 Nitrogen Cartridge (2011 PRODUCTION YEAR) has expired its shelf life.

• Cylinder and Ansul-ex chemical fluid that has expired its 10-year shelf life should be replaced.

• All nozzle types are incorrect.

• Since the nozzle is used without a cover and O-ring, a blockage has occurred in the discharge and detection line. For this reason, the nozzle should be replaced.

• Fusible link (meltable metal detectors) used in the detection line have not been replaced during maintenance periods. It needs to be replaced.

• The discharge and landing line piping installation made to the equipment is incorrect. The nozzle equipment is not positioned at the correct height and angle.

• Manual Pull Station should be revised to be maximum 12O cm above the ground and to be located closest to the escape door.

• Guide labels are missing. Guide labels should be attached.

• The system should be completely re-installed.

• No fire shut-off valve for gas is installed. A fire shut-off valve must be installed.

• A shunt trip breaker is not installed to disconnect power to all electrical outlets under the hood in the event of a fire. A shunt trip breaker must be installed. alarm panel. (A shunt trip breaker for a fire alarm system is a special circuit breaker with an internal electromagnetic coil that cuts off main power remotely when triggered by the fire alarm panel)

The Contractor should revise each IRS Form W-14 submission to reflect the exemption (if any) that applies to that particular invoice, such as a different exemption applying.

In the absence of a completed IRS Form W-14 accompanying a payment request, the default withholding percentage is 2 percent for the section 5000C withholding for that payment request.

Information about IRS Form W-14 and its separate instructions is available via the internet at www.irs.gov/w14.

(2) If the Contractor is a foreign person and has indicated in its offer in the provision 52.229-11, Tax on Certain Foreign Procurements—Notice and Representation, that it is fully exempt from the withholding, and certified the full exemption on the IRS Form W-14, and if that full exemption no longer applies due to a change in circumstances during the performance of the contract that causes the Contractor to become subject to the withholding for the 2 percent excise tax then the Contractor shall–

(i) Notify the Contracting Officer within 30 days of a change in circumstances that causes the Contractor to be subject to the excise tax withholding under 26 U.S.C. 5000C; and

(ii) Comply with paragraph (c)(1) of this clause.
