SECTION B – SUPPLIES OR SERVICES AND PRICES/COSTS
B.1. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SUPPLIES OR SERVICES (AGREEMENT)
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research’s (CBER) mission is to regulate biological products for human use under applicable federal laws, including the Public Health Service Act and the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. CBER protects and advances the public health by ensuring that biological products are safe and effective and available to those who need them. CBER also provides the public with information to promote the safe and appropriate use of biological products.
As of calendar year 2014, CBER has centralized all laboratory staff to the FDA White Oak Campus in Silver Spring, Maryland. To ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA), the Center must ensure all laboratory workers wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to protect them from injury. The Act also requires that employees wear protective equipment based on the hazards that they are exposed to.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER), seeks to acquire weekly rental of laboratory coats, scrub sets, towel services and laundry services for laboratory coats, scrub sets and towels to assure proper sanitation in the laboratories. The Vendor shall indicate if the minimum characteristics have been met to be considered responsive for this requirement.
