About this file

Attachment 1 - Specifications is a detailed specification document for a Carbon and Water Flux System requested by the USDA Agricultural Research Service's Northern Great Plains Research Laboratory in Mandan, North Dakota. The solicitation seeks two (2) scientific instruments with specific technical requirements, including the ability to measure CO2 and H2O concentrations, latent and sensible heat, wind speed components, and various environmental parameters such as air temperature, relative humidity, and barometric pressure.

The technical specifications mandate that the flux processing occur on the sensor itself, with an integrated gas analyzer and ultrasonic anemometer, and require raw and processed data to be retrievable via multiple interfaces (serial, SDI-12, and USB micro). The system must include a mounting base, tower, solar panel, and battery for continuous power. Delivery is specified for no later than 09/30/2025 to the PA Natural Resource Management Research facility in Mandan, ND, with the solicitation requesting vendors to include any available discounts and extended warranty in their pricing.

Carbon and Water Flux System

The USDA ARS Northern Great Plains Research Lab in Mandan ND is in need of Carbon and

Water Flux System. The machine should meet or exceed the following specifications:

• Must provide rapid measurements of CO2 between 0 and 1500 µmol mol-1 and H2O between 0 and 60 mmol mol-1 concentrations, latent heat, sensible heat, momentum, and additional biometeorological measurements including cosine corrected Photosynthetic

Flux Density (PPFD) between 0 and 3000 µmol m-2 s-1, air temperature between -40 and

60 oC, relative humidity between 0 and 100 %, and barometric pressure.

• The flux processing must occur on the sensor itself, with integrated gas analyzer and vertical (W), and two horizontal wind speed (U and V) components measured by an integrated ultra sonic anemometer.

• Raw (10 Hz) and processed data must be retrievable via serial, SDI-12, and USB micro.

• The system must include a mounting base and tower

• The system must include a solar panel and battery with sufficient capacity to continuously power the instrument.
