ADDENDUM NO. 1 DATE OF ADDENDUM 8/11/2022
TO SENT VIA EMAIL
REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL NO. A22-1695
The purpose of this Addendum is to…
1. Answer the following questions (Answers in blue):
1) The RFP states the BeeGFS filesystem to perform at “10GB/s aggregate R/W throughput”. How is the filesystem to be tested and benchmarked? IOR? If so, what parameters will be utilized?
i. How is “aggregate R/W” defined? Most HPC filesystems, depending on workload, are not close to an even 50/50% N independent processes on N EDR client nodes all reading from or writing to N separate target files on the BeeGFS should be able to generate an aggregated bandwidth of 10GB/s doing all random reads, doing all sequential writes, as well as doing a 50%/50% mixture thereof.
N is between 10 and 20.
ii. Is the customer benchmarking the filesystem after installation?
Yes.
iii. Per the answers to above, are these requirements considered system acceptance criteria?
Yes.
iv. Would a very similar system (hardware components plus BeeGFS filesystem), configured and tested within the Dell AI and Innovation Lab, with published results, be acceptable for this requirement?
Per section 19 of the RFP substitutes or equals will not be considered. Configuration must meet requirements in Appendix B Specifications dated 7/28/2022.
2) Some EDR Infiniband components are on lead times estimated 6 to 8 months, with EDR being in an End-of-Sale state, how does this affect your outlook on EDR? HDR Infiniband switches have less lead time for delivery (approximately 4 to 5 months); can we substitute an HDR switch integrated into your existing EDR fabric? Or, do you prefer to stay with the EDR component requirements?
We prefer EDR to integrate into existing EDR infrastructure.
3) Are there any delivery requirement timelines?
Before 12/31/2022 is preferred.
