About this file
This Request for Proposals (RFP PR-26-003) is issued by the City of Cartersville, Georgia, seeking qualified playground designers and manufacturers to design, supply, and install playground equipment for Founders Oak Park, a pocket park being created as part of the City Hall redevelopment project. The project centers on creating a distinctive playground inspired by the legacy of the historic Founders Oak Tree, which was planted over 175 years ago at the city's founding. The playground design should feature a primary tower-style play structure serving as the focal point, complementary structures for younger children ages 2-5, and various play components including motion-based elements, balance and climbing features, and sensory play opportunities. The design must incorporate inclusive and accessible play features compliant with ASTM, CPSC, and ADA standards, along with rubberized safety surfacing, seating areas, shade structures, and thematic elements honoring the oak tree's legacy. Questions are due by Wednesday, May 13, 2026, with the City's responses provided by Friday, May 15, 2026. Proposals must be submitted by Monday, June 1, 2026, at 2:00 PM EST to the City Office Building at 1 N Erwin Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120, with selection and contract award anticipated for Thursday, June 4, 2026. The playground installation is scheduled for months 13-16 of the City Hall construction project, which began in late February/early March 2026 with anticipated completion in approximately 13 months.
The vendor will be responsible for providing the conceptual design, equipment specifications, cost proposal, supply and installation of playground equipment and surfacing, and coordination with City staff and the City Hall project team. Site preparation, including grading and base preparation, will be completed by the general contractor, while the playground vendor coordinates equipment specifications and installation requirements with the City. The proposal will be evaluated based on design creativity and theme integration (35%), play value and inclusivity (25%), quality and durability of equipment (20%), and cost and overall value (20%). Submissions must include one printed copy and a digital copy on a USB drive in a sealed package. No specific budget amount is stated in the RFP. The City reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and select the proposal that best serves the City's interests.
