About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for RFP No. CAB-16-1 issued by the California Architects Board (CAB). The RFP pertains to a consulting contract expiring June 30, 2016, and does not include subsequent contract terms. The consultant is required to work up to 1,400 hours per year, with approximately 90% of the time spent at the Board's office in Sacramento during normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). The position involves attending approximately two disciplinary hearings per year, five to six Board and committee meetings annually, the CALBO Annual Business Meeting, and various meetings with building and planning officials.
The workload is divided between two consultants based on enforcement case assignments, with considerations for conflicts of interest, previous case assignments, and specific expertise requirements. While incumbents are not given explicit preference, the contract will be awarded to the proposer with the highest total points based on the Selection Criteria, Rating Scales, and Guidelines identified in the RFP. The same hourly rate applies to both normal business hours and any required work outside of normal hours.

2) Question – Will there be a separate bid process for the consulting contract that expires on January 31, 2017?
Answer – This RFP does not pertain to the contract expiring on January 31, 2017.
3) Question – Can you provide a breakdown of the amount of time the consultant spends in Sacramento at the offices of CAB? (Percentage, number of trips, etc.)?

In-state travel is also sometimes required. Based on prior years, the consultant attends approximately two disciplinary hearings per year, five to six Board and committee meetings per year, the CALBO Annual Business Meeting, meetings with building and planning officials, other conferences/seminars, etc.
At the request of the Executive Officer, the consultant may also be required to work outside of normal business hours. Hours worked outside of normal business hours are paid at the same hourly rate as normal business hours.
