Massasoit Community College RFP 2023-03 X-Ray System Equipment

Addendum #2 dated February 27, 2023

Massasoit Community College issues Addendum #1 to provide clarification and additional information in response to proposer’s questions. All responses are in bold. Upon the release of this Addendum, the question and answer period will be over.

1. Who will be responsible to remove existing acoustic ceiling tile and braces? This is a must to install the new Unistrut as requested on the RFP.

The College will be responsible for removing the existing acoustic ceiling tiles and grid only.

2. Who will be responsible to remove/relocate/reconfigure/reinstall the existing lead lined 7’ petitions?

The selected vendor will be responsible for the removal of the existing lead lined 7’ petitions.

3. Who will be responsible to relocate/add any electrical wiring, outlets including disconnect and data drops?

The College will be responsible for relocating/adding electrical wiring, outlets including disconnect and data drops.

4. Will Massasoit Community College’s physicist be doing the final testing on the new energized equipment?

The selected vendor will be responsible for having a physicist do the final testing on the new energized equipment.

5. On the RFP it states that one room will be removed and the other will be relocated and remain “non-energized”. Can Massasoit Community College decide which room they would like to dispose since XRIT does not service nor provide yearly PM’s on either equipment?

The selected vendor will be responsible for the removal and the proper disposal of one x-ray unit and the relocation and de-energizing of the other x-ray unit in Room T436. The selected vendor will decide which unit is to be disposed of and which unit is to be relocated and de-energized based on the functional lifespan of the two units.

6. On Page 6 of the RFP, Tube – Is a .6/1.25 focal spot tube acceptable?

Yes.

7. On Page 8 of the RFP, Generator – A 150 kVp generator is specified. In our company’s 40 years in business, we have found 125 kVp generators provide a significantly longer life span for the x-ray tube. In a classroom setting, where most exposures will be on phantoms, it would be unusual to even approach the limits of the 125 kVp generator. Would it be acceptable to provide a 125 kVp generator?

No.

8. On Page 8 of the RFP, Generator – A 50 kw generator is specified. When shooting phantoms, this amount of power is far more than what is needed and has a higher cost. Would it be acceptable to provide a 40 kw generator?

No.

9. On Page 8 of the RFP, Generator – A high speed starter is specified. In our experience a regular speed starter is more than adequate, especially in a classroom setting. A regular speed starter will provide for longer tube life, a lower tube cost, as well as a lower generator cost. Would it be acceptable to provide a regular speed starter with this system?

No.

10. On Page 9 of the RFP, DR Acquisition system – Are DR panel(s) to be provided with this system?

No.

11. On Page 9 of the RFP, DR Acquisition system – This does not specify if a single panel system is to be provided, a dual panel system greatly reduces the risk of drops and the associated expenses. Could you please specify if a single or dual panel system is to be provided?

Not applicable.

12. On Page 9 of the RFP, DR Acquisition system – What properties do you want in the DR panel(s)?

a. Glass or glassless?

b. Scintillator type (Gadox or Cesium)?

Not applicable.

13. Whose responsibility is the ceiling tile and grid work once the new Unistrut is installed?

The College will be responsible for the ceiling tile and grid work once the unistrut is installed.

14. Whose responsibility is the relocation of circuit breakers and conduits?

The College will be responsible for the relocation of circuit breakers and conduits.

15. Whose responsibility is removing the wall between the two current x-ray rooms?

The selected vendor will be responsible for removing the wall between the two current x-ray rooms.

16. Of the existing equipment that will be de-energized and reinstalled, who will be responsible for providing the power requirements for the locks and collimator light?

The College will be responsible for providing the power requirements for the locks and collimator light.

17. In the re-installed existing equipment, are you looking for the x-ray console to be moved and functional as well? Or will this system just be used for patient positioning?

The selected vendor will be responsible for moving the console and making it functional.

18. Will the current DR panel be used for this new system or will an additional panel be needed?

The current DR panel will be used for the new system.

19. What walls will need to be removed/repurposed? (These appear to custom made cubical walls)?

· If they are being removed, Associated X-Ray can do so.

· If they are being re-purposed, please let us know for what and we can configure as needed.

The selected vendor will be responsible for removing the three existing lead lined cubicle walls.

20. Is the company that made the Lead lined Cubicle walls still available and can we get contact information?

The College does not have information on the company that installed the lead lined cubical walls.

21. Will the room need to be re-carpeted? If so, we suggest doing so prior to installation otherwise the carpeting will need to be cut around the equipment.

The College will be responsible for patching and repairing the carpeting as is needed.

22. Once the Unistrut is installed a new drop ceiling will need to be installed. Will that be coordinated by Massasoit?

The College will be responsible for the installation of a new drop ceiling.

23. Is there a physicist assigned as of yet?

The selected vendor will be responsible for having a physicist do the final testing on the new energized equipment.

24. Would the College want a third piece of unistrut flush with the ceiling to be used as a cable drape for the bundle of cables that run from the overhead tube support back to the generator?

No.

25. Who is responsible for obtaining any building permits associated with the unistrut installation?

The selected vendor shall be responsible for any building permits associated with the unistrut installation.
