About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for RFP 15-008 Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity issued by Colorado Community College System (CCCS). The project encompasses designing and implementing a comprehensive disaster recovery and business continuity solution that includes hosting core systems (Banner, Exchange, and WAN infrastructure) at a colocation facility with redundant ring connectivity across four CCCS campus locations (Lowry, Westminster, Centennial in Colorado Springs, and Pueblo). The vendor must provide server hardware, SAN storage, network infrastructure, space, power, and connectivity while CCCS retains management of applications, operating systems, and databases. The solution requires recovery of all production systems including 44 Banner servers and 16 Exchange servers from a total environment of approximately 330 servers, with approximately 123 TB of total storage capacity and 18,000 user mailboxes in the Exchange environment. Core systems must be operational by June 30, 2015, with all remaining systems deployed by December 1, 2015. The contract term is one year with automatic renewals for four additional years (total five-year contract), subject to Colorado state funding approval.
The RFP specifies Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) of zero data loss and instantaneous recovery for Banner, Exchange, and WAN systems, with no other systems exceeding four-hour recovery times. The vendor must be a Cisco Powered Service Provider and provide 10 Gbps redundant connectivity with physical diversity (minimum 25-foot separation between building entrances and separate fiber paths between locations) using either ASR1000 or ASR9000 series routers with chassis-level redundancy. The vendor owns all circuits, hardware for the redundant ring, and colocation equipment except for CCCS-owned equipment (EMC Avamar/Data Domain, Cisco UCS servers, Cisco IronPort appliance) housed in a single rack with maximum 5 kW power draw and proximity card access with 24/7 surveillance. CCCS will provide Oracle licenses and application-specific software while the vendor provides remaining required licenses based on the proposed solution. Testing must occur quarterly with participation from both CCCS and vendor subject matter experts. No incumbent vendor exists, and there is no disclosed budget for this project.
