About this file
This document is Addendum #2 to RFP #1171 issued by the Town of Bloomfield, Connecticut for the Maple Avenue Traffic Calming project, providing clarifications to bidder questions submitted during the proposal phase. The addendum addresses six key inquiries regarding project execution and specifications. Construction traffic management shall utilize alternating one-way traffic while maintaining open town roads. Contractors must complete work sequentially at each of the four choker or raised intersection locations, with only one work area active at a time unless the Engineer approves extenuating circumstances; the surface pavement course must be installed at each location before progression to the next. Curbing must remain cast-in-place as detailed in the plans rather than precast or extruded alternatives, and center islands must utilize separate curbs rather than monolithic curb haunches. The corrected contact email for project inquiries is JMuraca@BloomfieldCT.gov, and no extension has been granted for proposal responses. Bidders are required to acknowledge receipt of this addendum dated July 2026 and confirm compliance with all modifications before submission.
No pricing information, contract values, payment terms, set-asides, or other financial details are provided within this addendum document. The addendum serves solely as a clarification instrument to ensure bidders understand project requirements and specifications prior to proposal submission.

MAPLE AVENUE TRAFFIC CALMING
ADDENDUM #2
Question Responses Addendum – June, 2026
The purpose of this addendum is to provide additional information & answers to questions for clarification to the RFP:
1. Q. Can the road be shut down/detoured around each work area as they progress, or will be need to alternate 1 lane of traffic during each section?
A. Alternating one-way traffic shall be used during construction. Town roads shall remain open.
2. Q. Can we leave all four choker areas process gravel until ready to pave, or will each area be required to be 100% prior to moving to the next?
A. The contractor shall work at only 1 choker or raised intersection location at a time.
No work shall be performed at a second location until all work is complete at each unless approved by the Engineer under extenuating circumstances.
3. Q. If each needs to be complete prior to moving to the next, can they at least be left to binder depth with final course and striping/pavement markings all installed at once at the end of the project? And if so, would temporary markings be required?
A. Please refer to the #2 response above. The surface pavement course should be installed at each location prior to moving on to the next location.
4. Q. Can the curbing on the edges of the road be precast curb and not cast in place as detailed? Can it be full depth extruded as well? Any other option?
A. The curbing is to be cast in place as shown on the plans.
5. Q. Can the center islands be poured with a monolithic curb haunch, or does the engineer want the curb separate from the slab as detailed?
A. Monolithic curb haunch for the center islands is not allowable.
6. Q. The contact e-mail bounces back to us, is it correct?
A. The correct contact e-mail is JMuraca@BloomfieldCT.gov
7. Q. Will there be an extension granted for responses?
A. There is no extension at this time.
