About this file
This is an Amendment that provides answers to five vendor questions regarding a Digital Microscope requirement for the US Army DEVCOM Soldier Center's quality assurance/control program. The amendment clarifies that elemental analysis is not currently required but should be available for future upgrades, confirms that a 20x-2000x magnification range is acceptable (versus the original 5x-6000x requirement), and specifies that a 100mm x 100mm stage size would be sufficient (reduced from the original 300mm x 300mm specification).
The amendment also confirms that 3D measurement capabilities are required with itemized pricing for both 3D measurement and DIC (Differential Interference Contrast) options. Regarding timing, the document indicates a 23-week lead time prior to award, with an expected 2-3 week delivery timeframe after contract award. These answers modify the original Sources Sought announcement which has a response deadline of February 14, 2025, and a questions deadline of February 7, 2025.

Amendment 0001 to Answer Vendor Questions:
Question 1: Is elemental analysis a requirement?
Answer 1: Not a requirement now, but we want the “Capability to upgrade in the future as well will likely utilize this feature in the future”.
Question 2: Would a magnification range of 20x-2000x be sufficient?
Answer 2: Yes Question 3: What is preferred stage size?
Answer 3: 100mm x 100mm should be sufficient Question 4: Is 3D measurement a requirement?
Answer 4: Yes please itemize additional cost. Can you itemize DIC as an option? It may be useful for identifying surface features/nonconformities on our fibers.
Question 5: Is the 23 weeks lead time the anticipated PO release?
Answer 5: Yes it’ll likely be 23 weeks prior to award. 1 week delivery after contract award would be amazing, we may need to specify “2-3-week delivery upon contract award”
