About this file
This document is a Request for Information (RFI) from the Joint Project Manager for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Protection (JPM CBRN Protection) seeking detailed information about commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions for a Biocontainment, Isolation, and Quarantine (BIQ) Portable Patient Transport System (PPTS). The system requirements include a man-portable, single-patient enclosure designed to control and prevent the spread of biological threats during transport by air, rail, ground, or sealift. The RFI includes specific technical clarifications, such as confirmation that the PPTS is a small, single-patient system allowing patient care only via glove ports, with a preferred 12-hour operational runtime that can be extended through battery hot-swapping.
The RFI is part of a follow-up to two previous Sources Sought Announcements, aligned with the Chemical and Biological Defense Program's Enhanced Biodefense and Pandemic Preparedness Narrative. Responses are requested via email to Brian Liska at brian.liska@usmc.mil by 10 SEP 2025 at 5:00 p.m. EST. The solicitation is issued by the Department of the Army Materiel Command Army Contracting Command at Aberdeen Proving Ground, with the goal of identifying suitable systems for military use in transporting non-ambulatory infectious patients while minimizing biothreat transmission.

PPTS RFI Questions 8 SEP 2025 Received 4 SEP 2025
1. Is the PPTS to be designed to allow a medical provider to be able to enter the patient isolation area wearing appropriate PPE to care for the patient? Or, is this envisioned to be a much smaller unit with the only form of patient care to be via the glove ports?
The PPTS will be a small, single-patient system that only allows patient care via the glove ports.
2. What is the desired operational runtime for the unit when on battery power?
A 12 hour operational runtime is preferred, but the battery may be hot-swapped to obtain that runtime.
