About this file
This is a Request for Information (RFI) announcing an Industry Day event for the Tactical Microgrid Standard (TMS/MIL-STD-3071), issued by the U.S. Army Contracting Command-Aberdeen Proving Ground Belvoir Division on behalf of Project Manager Expeditionary Energy & Sustainment Systems (PM E2S2). The Industry Day will be held on February 27, 2025, at 0900 EST at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, with both in-person and virtual attendance options. U.S. citizenship is required for in-person attendance unless special arrangements are made 30 days in advance. The RSVP deadline is February 6, 2025, through the provided government forms website.
The event will showcase the TMS, which aims to standardize communications protocols for tactical power generation and distribution equipment, addressing current challenges in operational energy deployment. The agenda includes a poster session with networking opportunities, executive overview, technical deep dive, and demonstration of TMS-enabled tactical power grid hardware. Industry stakeholders can participate in the poster session to display TMS-related products and services. The program objective focuses on improving tactical power generation efficiency by enabling the networking of generators, energy storage, and alternative power sources. This RFI is for information gathering only and does not constitute a commitment to issue a future solicitation or contract.

REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) AND INDUSTRY DAY ANNOUNCEMENT FOR TACTICAL MICROGRID STANDARD (TMS) - MIL-STD-3071 The U.S. Army Contracting Command-Aberdeen Proving Ground (ACC-APG) Belvoir Division, on behalf of the Project Manager Expeditionary Energy & Sustainment Systems (PM E2S2), is issuing this Request for Information (RFI) to announce an upcoming Industry Day event for the Tactical Microgrid Standard (TMS), also known as MIL-STD-3071. The TMS Industry Day will be held in-person with a virtual option on 27 February 2025, commencing at 0900 EST at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. US Citizenship is required for attendance in person unless special accommodations can be arranged at least 30 days in advance.
Event Overview:
The TMS Industry Day will feature a poster session with networking opportunities, an executive overview of the TMS, a technical deep dive into the standard, and a demonstration of a functioning TMS-enabled tactical power grid with hardware. This event aims to provide a forum for the government to present the TMS to industry stakeholders and for attendees to share their experiences and insights on implementing the standard.
Program Objective:
The current approach to providing operational energy in tactical environments is often hindered by a cumbersome logistics tail required to supply and maintain tactical generators. Emerging technologies offer the potential to network generators, energy storage, and alternative power sources together to provide efficient and reliable power. However, many of these solutions are proprietary or designed for specific scenarios, limiting their extensibility and scalability. The TMS defines the communications protocols that will enable the future of power generation and distribution equipment for tactical operations, facilitating new capabilities such as redundancy, reliability, higher efficiency, and modularity.
Industry Adoption and Engagement:
As part of PM E2S2's management of the TMS (MIL-STD-3071), industry adoption is a critical objective. The Industry Day event will provide a platform for the government to present the TMS and for industry stakeholders to share their experiences, challenges, and insights on implementing the standard. The event will also feature a poster session and tabletop displays, allowing interested vendors to showcase their TMS-related products and services.
Event Agenda:
The TMS Industry Day will include:
· Poster session and tabletop displays
· Executive overview of the TMS
· Technical deep dive into the TMS
· Demonstration of a functioning TMS-enabled tactical power grid with hardware
· Question and answer session Registration and Additional Information:
For more information on the TMS, please visit the TMS website at: https://go.mil/TMS. This website will be updated as more information becomes available.
