About this file
This document is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the Trustees of the California State University, California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) for the operation of a Retail Food Market. CSUF, the largest campus in the California State University system, is seeking to lease a 1,000 square foot shell space to a qualified firm for a minimum of 5 years and up to 10 years to operate a Retail Food Market offering food and non-food items to students in residence and the greater campus community. The RFI requests information on the product mix, hours of operation, pricing, staffing, decor, merchandising, marketing, and sustainability plans from interested parties. Responses are due by May 13, 2024 and should be delivered to the Contracts and Procurement office at CSUF.
The RFI indicates that in lieu of straight rent per square foot, CSUF is open to percentage of sales or a combination of rent per square foot and percentage of sales as pricing terms. The Retail Market pricing must be competitively comparable to similar local food operators and other educational institutions. All records related to the build-out and operations will be subject to audit by the University. CSUF desires to partner with a firm that values community engagement and is willing to provide financial support to students through scholarships, nourishment, mental health services, or other means.
