2. INTRODUCTION
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is seeking information from qualified vendors regarding Task Management Tool solutions that can support an enterprise-wide need for effective task management. Effective task management is critical for FDA’s operational success, ensuring that teams can track assignments, automate workflows, and maintain visibility into project progress.
FDA seeks a solution that provides a robust set of capabilities across the organization through the analysis of FDA’s predominant needs and primary use cases listed in the following sections.
3. OBJECTIVES
1. Vendor Identification: Identify vendors offering comprehensive enterprise Task
Management Tools and solutions, including licensing, and support, and documentation.
2. Gather information on how the tools can support effective task management, and with minimum effort and cost.
3. Scalability and Security: Evaluate tools for scalability, security, and seamless integration.
4. Total Cost of Ownership (TCO): Analyze cost-effectiveness, advantages, and drawbacks of various solutions.
4. BACKGROUND
The approximately 20,000 federal and contractor staff at FDA are responsible for protecting the public health by assuring the safety, efficacy, and security of human and veterinary drugs, biological products, medical devices, our nation’s food supply, cosmetics, and products that emit radiation.
Our national and global operations are also responsible for advancing the public health by helping to speed innovations that make medicines more effective, safer, affordable, and by helping the public get the accurate, science-based information they need to use medicines and foods that maintain and improve their health. Additionally, the FDA has responsibility for regulating the manufacturing, marketing, and distribution of tobacco products to protect the public health and to reduce tobacco use by minors. Globalization and the explosion of digital information pertaining to regulated industries has challenged the FDA to manage and utilize its information to meet its regulatory and scientific mission more effectively.
The FDA aims to implement an efficient task management tool to more effectively manage the thousands of requests for information and responses to inquiries from the public, industry, and Congress.
