About this file
This is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the Department of Labor's Office of Statistical Programs and Employment Economics (OSPE) regarding the purchase of aggregated current month chicken egg and select seafood price data for the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
The RFI seeks information about subscription services capable of providing monthly price data for chicken eggs across six U.S. regions (Northeast, Midwest, Southeast, South Central, Northwest, and California) broken down by six size categories (Jumbo, Extra Large, Large, Medium, Small, and Breaker Stock). The weighted average prices must be reported as $/dozen eggs and calculated over the first fourteen days of each month based on wholesale transactions. Additionally, the RFI requires current month pricing data for select seafood products: tuna, shrimp, crabs, lobster, and clams/oysters/sea scallops/mussels. Seafood prices must be weighted averages from U.S. domestic wholesale channels, reported on a less-than-truckload basis, and calculated over the first fourteen days of the month. Shrimp must be U.S.-caught (primarily Gulf of Mexico) and headless, shell-on format. Pricing information submitted is on a Rough Order of Magnitude basis for information-gathering purposes only. RFI responses are due by 10:00 AM EST on Monday, May 18, 2026, submitted via email to DeCarlo Coleman at coleman.decarlo@dol.gov. Questions must be submitted by 10:00 AM EST on May 13, 2026. Responses are limited to 30 pages in Microsoft Word format using Times New Roman 11- or 12-point font with 1-inch margins. This RFI does not constitute a commitment to award a contract, and no payment will be made for information provided. Based on responses, the requirement may be set-aside for small businesses or procured through full and open competition, with multiple awards possible.
