About this file
This document is a Critical Operational Device Specification (CODS) for a mercury vapor analyzer system being sought by the Department of the Army. The specifications detail both minimum required and desired characteristics for a portable device capable of detecting and measuring toxic mercury vapor in the air.
Key operational requirements include detection sensitivity of 0.001 mg/m³ (minimum) to 0.1 μg/m³ (desired), measurement range of 0.1-500 μg/m³, gold film sensor technology (minimum) or atomic fluorescence/UV absorption technology (desired), 5-10 hours of rechargeable battery life, and field portability for single-operator use. The system must include a hardened transport case meeting MIL-STD 810H testing standards for environmental conditions, have Trade Agreements Act compliance, and include comprehensive documentation and training. Additional desired parameters specify maximum weights of 37 lbs packaged and 15 lbs operational, plus Defense Health Agency Authority to Operate certification if applicable. The contractor must provide at least one year of warranty (three years desired), repair parts support, and both physical and digital technical manuals.
