About this file

This document outlines specifications for an integrated bioengineering platform. The Naval Research Laboratory requires a customized workcell that will integrate several instruments for biotechnology research and development, including a DNA synthesizer, thermal cyclers, plate peelers, sealers, fragment analyzers, sonicators, plate readers, centrifuges, liquid handlers, incubators, and barcode labelers. The platform must be controlled by a single PC, implement necessary instrument drivers and modifications, include status lighting, waste bins with sensors, and fit within specified dimensions. Accompanying software is required to schedule processes, record and report data to a LIMS system, log full sample trails and processes, allow editing and parallel/restarting of processes, and utilize custom scripting and database tracking of run information. An articulated robotic arm, scratch-resistant surfaces, instrument cabinets, a 10-position carousel, centrifuge autoloader, integrated power panel, sliding instrument supports, and factory/site acceptance testing and training are also specified. The Naval Research Laboratory is seeking potential sources capable of meeting these requirements for an integrated bioengineering platform.
