About this file

This document is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) regarding non-slip floor coating solutions for various flooring materials found at MBTA stations, garages, maintenance facilities, and other workspaces. The MBTA is seeking information on available technologies, application methods, and vendor experience in providing non-slip solutions that can address high pedestrian and light to medium duty vehicle traffic. The RFI outlines specific details the MBTA is interested in, such as slip coefficient testing, adherence properties, maintenance requirements, and the ability to apply coatings to stairs, ramps, and sloped surfaces. Vendors are asked to provide company background, technical details, past project examples, cost estimates, and any other relevant information by the response deadline of July 30, 2020.

The MBTA will not reimburse vendors for RFI response costs, and the pricing information provided will be non-binding. This RFI is part of the MBTA's effort to understand the available market solutions to improve the safety and traction of its flooring surfaces, which include epoxy terrazzo tiles, concrete, and dense rubber. The MBTA is interested in products that can withstand various indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, including fluid spills, without negatively impacting the integrity of the underlying flooring.
